The Shroud of Turin Could be Authentic

Geogeer
Peepette

This debate is for Round 1 of the 2016 Spring DebateAs the Shroud of Turin is (possibly) an ancient historical artifact, absolute proof is impossible thus there will be shared burden of proof. Pro will argue that the Shroud dates back to the time of Christ and thus could be authentic.Con will argue that it is a forgery and thus could not be authentic.

There are times both in which abortion should and should not be allowed

InsaneSanity
Geogeer

I should clarify my position because the title isn't long enough to accurately describe it. I am arguing that there are certain times when abortion is wrong and should not be done, and there are times that it is acceptable. Con will try to prove that it is either always acceptable or always wrong. Rules: - Obviously, there will be no attacks on people and no anger. We are debating, not having an online shouting match (as happened between some idiots in my third period today but in person)...

The Immaculate Conception is biblically accurate

GOP
Geogeer

Greetings, everyone. Pro will be arguing that this is a biblically sound doctrine. Since I am Con, I will do the opposite. Rules: 1. You must be a Catholic. No devil's advocates. 2. Your arguments must be based on the 66 books of the Bible that both Protestants and Catholics agree upon (1). Neither the seven books (the Apocrypha/Deuterocanon) that Catholics and Protestants do not agree upon, nor any other religious writings are valid sources for this debate. 3. No trolling or pro...

Is it necessary for God to be infinitely powerful?

subjectname
Geogeer

This is my first debate, so just trying to keep it lite and casual, get my toes wet, and hopefully be able to vote on debates at some point (instead of sniping at people's arguments from the comments section. So anyway... 3 rounds, 4000 characters, 1st round will be my opening argument and yours, 2nd will be rebuttal and new/other arguments, 3rd will be rebuttal and conclusion (no newer arguments). I've observed that a lot of these "omnipotence paradoxes" seem to depend on the premise that...
