Should students be allowed to carry backpacks during school days?

I feel as though backpacks should be allowed to be carried throughout the school day. This would be an exceptional decision because the backpack has more room than a messenger bag, which many students use, has space to put books, laptops, binders, etc. in. The backpack also helps spread the weight of your materials evenly over your body, which can help reduce the risk of back/shoulder pain....
