Should corporate punishment be allowed in schools or academies

zjack3

Teachers in academies and schools use corporal punishments to change student's behaviour, but as soon as children get punished that way, the child will get mad and depressed. The child will start thinking that he is a bad person and a useless person. If they get punished like that too much they will become violent, and also they will become aggressive to their friends. Instead or punishing the teachers and parents should emphasis good behavior and applause them when they do something good, so th...

Should media be restricted?

or8560

In today's time, there are a lot of medias such as Internet, TV, Newspapers. They make people know that what's going on in the world. However, today, medias such as Internet has gone out of control. Bad criticisms and sordid comments tend to hurt people and make them mentally harassed. THIS NEEDS TO BE STOPPED. In order to do this, the government must take control of the media, and stop some articles or comments that will mentally harass innocent people. For example, my friend has a website that...

god's existence cannot be proven

dairygirl4u2c
wingnut2280

Depends on the level of proof you want, and how you define God. But ultimately, if you define God in any meaningful terms, or with substantial level of proof, God's existence cannot be proven. incidentally. I believe in God's existence, but I don't claim it's definitive proof. (Faith is arbitrary; and the act of faith -- of its very nature -- involves man's free choice (libero arbitrio).) CAUSATION everything we know has a cause. but we also have to recognize that we don't come acros...

There will be a more peaceful world if America actively maintains it's hegemony

alvinthegreat

Ever since the fall of the Soviet Union, the United States has been the preeminent superpower. Since then, America has actively interfered in many country's internal matters (i.e supporting one faction over another in a war, attempting to ouster a ruler ect), including some that have resulted in the violation of a country's sovereignty, and/or have made the country actively hostile against the United States. Moreover, the United States is actively working against countries such as Iran and Venez...

Intelligent Design is not a scientific theory.

evansands

Intelligent Design is a much of a scientific theory as sleeping is a sport (this isn't my point of contention, mind you). By any reasonable account of science, ID fails to qualify as a scientific theory. First, I look to Karl Popper's account of science for support. Popper's principle contribution to the philosophy of science is the concept of falsification; that is, a proposed theory must have the capable of refutation. Theories that escape refutation are not necessarily unhelpful or even i...

gay marriage: ya, another one

wingnut2280

I am against gay marriage. I have no social issues with gay people being together. I don't argue the church-gay conflict. My position is an economic one. The effect on our social programs would be devastating. Without getting into to much detail now, I don't see how someone could argue that gay marriage would not have a harmful effect on our already crippled government benefit systems....

Should students be allowed to carry cell phones with them?

gonovice

In todays age I think that it is greatly uncommon to meet a kid my age (14) who doesnt have a cell phone. There are a couple people but they dont want one either. Um... I think that carrying it isn't a problem and even texting isnt bad. If the teacher is suspicous they could make a rule like if you bring your phone to class and you text your teacher reserves the right to read it. That way they could make sure that no one is cheating. I just think that soon the only way of staying in touch with p...
