The War on Drugs is unconstitutional, immoral, and a complete failure

Rob1Billion
Leonitus_Trujillo

First off, the war on drugs is unconstitutional. While the bill of rights does not specifically address this, the spirit of the document is that of keeping the government out of our personal lives. If someone wants to ingest chemical substances in the privacy of their own home, it may not be the healthiest thing to do, granted, but it is not the function of our government to interfere in activities that are completely personal to us and do not hurt anyone else by us doing them. By ignoring this...

United States should use an Elector appointment System to solve the problem of low voter turn out.

Leonitus_Trujillo
DKguy0609

Often times for a Mayor position or a city council positions most people have no ideas that an election is even taking place much less vote. So a relatively few amount of people decide the leaders of a comparatively large population. This isn't the fault of the people they have their own lives to live, and unless there is a specific pressing issue that has gotten to the point where they are mad, they aren't really motivated to vote. Now I think that is bad, because it makes us rely on Cliff-Edge...

Mike Huckabee is the best Republican candidate.

Leonitus_Trujillo
TheLibertarian

Hello ladies and gentlemen. I would like to bring fourth a truth. I have done extensive research into this candidate, and have concluded that he is the best Republican candidate. I have seen other similar debates on the site, but I don't think they've done a good job. So I would leave a very vague opening argument that allows for my opponent to have a leg up, and I'll debate from there....

Term Limits should be abolished

Leonitus_Trujillo
Rousseau

Term limits are unnecessary. Especially in the United States government. There are enough checks and balances on Executive power to provide for a check on tyrany. We are not going to have another king which was the fear of the framers of the constitution, even though term-limits came much after the constitution. If it's not broke why fix it? If we have a good leader in office, who gained his position through popular elections, and who the people favor why force him to leave office? Now in...

Iowa's importance in the Presidential primaries should be reduced to allow a more national primary.

stumartin
Leonitus_Trujillo

I live in the most populous state in the union, and my vote is much less important then some small town farm boy in Iowa. Thats not fair. We should have a national primary, to allow my voice to be just as important in picking my nominee as someone in a diner when its 10 degrees outside and snowing....

Capital punishment should be illegal, and abortion rights should be respected.

Rob1Billion
Leonitus_Trujillo

I have seen a lot of death penalty and abortion arguments on this website, and I would like to cut to the meat of the matter here. Pro-lifers are always discussing innocence as the factor in this matter, and how innocent babies should not be killed but guilty murderors can be killed without worry. Innocence is not actually the issue here though. First of all, you are not the judge of innocence. Jesus said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Jesus is trying to say here that you cann...

Mike Hucakbee is the best Republican running for president.

Leonitus_Trujillo
l2jperry

There is no better Republican Candidate out there right now. Mike Huckabee is a true conservatist yet he knows when to compromise when the job needs to get done and he knows when to stand his ground, and his history as the Governor of Arkansas shows that. Thats not a negative thing but thats a positive thing. We don't know how the congressional elections will turn out, but if we get a stubborn president in office and a stubborn congress this country will go nowhere. Mike Huckabee is not o...

The Bible is a work of man, not God.

Chob
Leonitus_Trujillo

To begin, the Old Testament was written thousands of years before the birth of Jesus Christ, so those who wrote it really had no idea of God's true word. Furthermore, the Old Testament depicts God as vengeful and full of hatred, which logic and reasoning tells you he is not. So many people today attempt to use the Bible to justify discrimination against gays and lesbians, when they are only just small and scared people, hiding behind what they claim to be a work of God in order to justify themse...

the bible = not infallible

the outrageousness speaks for itself. ---When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himsel...

The world's history is mostly pre-determined to happen the way it has happened.

Leonitus_Trujillo
VaLoR

I am not saying that God outlined history to happen the way it happened. What I am saying logically and scientifically it can be proven that world history on Earth would be similar to world history on another planet with the same conditions as earth. Earth is the perfect distance away from the sun that our atmosphere wont be sucked into the sun's orbit, which is the case with mars. We are the perfect near the sun that there is suitable warmth for life. Therefore life exist on Earth. Becaus...
