About Me:I have been called a "glitch in the system". This is not meant in a negative sense, understand. Indeed, I think it sums me up well. While not completely insane, my interests are quite different from the socially accepted norm: Linguistics, phonics, phonetics, orthography, languages, debating, etc... I speak English (as you may have noticed), semi-fluent in French, too. I also speak some German and a little Mandarin. These skills, in combination with good public speaking, give me a rather - unique - personality. Here, that is, on debate.org, I hope to become respected and known throughout.
Activities:I enjoy debating, to the extent that I joined debate.org when no other option presented itself. This is currently being rectified in an effort led by myself and a few staff at my school. However, I will not simply pack up and leave when that goal is achieved. There is something about the Internet that one cannot escape. Be warned, though, there is no shallow end. Otherwise, I have far-reaching and crazy likes, from phonetics to mathematics, Mandarin to the grammatical development of English, etc... This would be an ample time to introduce some, perhaps more normal, activities. The Xbox 360 is my primary console, but I enjoy playing Yu-Gi-Oh on my PSP (I play many decks) and in reality, if anyone has the time.
Beliefs:I am an atheist, positive/weak. I do not recall when I was determined in my atheism. However, after "converting" from "Nothing in Particular-ism", I researched and debated the topic long and hard. I exhausted myself. Still, it paid off, so I can adequately hold my own in all arguments and - after a very brief period of strong atheism - am content in my beliefs. My profile identifies me as an agnostic, but if you were to ask me in person, I would say atheist. The difference is: I am more concerned with knowledge (agnosticism, gnosticism etc...) than belief (atheism, theism, deism, etc...) Politically, I have been told that I am conservative, although not by America's standards. (By the U.K.'s). However, I am not versed in politics at all.
Books:Anything fantastical (being the adjective of the word "fantasy") I am interested in. These books particularly involve magic, something that has always been of great interest to me. I think the most beautiful thing about fantastical magic is that, it is the one thing that I "understand", despite its non-existence! I am trying to leave my comfort zone and expand into other genres, but this is proving to be quite difficult.
Movies:V for Vendetta is my all-time favourite. (Although, V*'s* for Vendetta sounds better). The Disney animation "The Emperor's New Groove" is also amazing! Otherwise, I am not very interested in films... I tend to see some of the new releases, but nothing that I'm too serious on. The one exception to this are "The Hobbit" films.
Music:I like OneRepublic, though it varies. Bands do not determine their songs; their songs determine their bands. In other words, I give everyone a chance, even if I only enjoy one song from each. Two Steps From Hell, while technically a production company, is still one of the best ever.
Quotes:If someone needs to tell their audience how to vote at the end; they haven't argued well enough - or they think that their audience is too blind to see it."_Jacob Minihane
"Summing up is never easy"_Jacob Minihane
"Politics is like football; all the fans think they can judge and do better than the players"_Jacob Minihane
"The History Channel, what happened to you guys?"_CGP Grey
"[...]you ARE Forerunner...but this Ring is MINE."_343 Guilty Spark

(Yes, I quote myself.)
Sports Teams:I honestly couldn't care less about sports.
TV Shows:Grimm, being human, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Documentaries about history (avoid the history channel; there's no history on it), paranormal rumours (that's the history channel), and criminal investigations.

Greetings and salutations, everybody.Today, I want to instigate a debate on a topic which has apparently gained some momentum, although I was only introduced to it relatively recently. I'm aware that not many people hold to the Pro position, but if there is only one person who does on DDO, then we have the potential for an excellent and mind-blowing debate. The resolution in the title is the full resolution. I am Con; my opponent shall be Pro. The burden of proof will be shared equally, and both...
