About Me:I am just another human being. I am the sum of my interests and influences. I will leave all other conclusions to you. What is your impression?
Activities:Media in general. The information age is a beautiful thing.
Beliefs:Epistemology: Contextualist - the word "knowledge" is context-sensitive. Ergo, many different interpretations can be held of the term. Metaphysics: Pieces of existentialism mixed into skepticism. Though I cannot gain knowledge of my existence, my closest guess is that life has no purpose apart from what I imbue it with. Ethics: Simple Subjectivist - Morality is based on personal beliefs. Religion: Skeptical Atheism - No knowledge can be gained, which leads to lacking belief. Others: Art should express the beauty of reality. Debate is the purest way to exchange and test ideals.
Books:Animal Farm - I adore this allegory for its brilliant comparisons to the Soviet Union.
Movies:Requiem for a Dream and A Clockwork Orange - two movies which were some of the most powerful experiences. They allowed for me to empathize with a character on another level, which, I think, deserves a massive panegyric.
Music:Black MIDIs - For those unfamiliar, these are composition made with a computer program to create a massive amount of notes.
Quotes:Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival. - C S Lewis

To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering. - Friedrich Nietzche

The more unintelligent a man is, the less mysterious existence seems to him. - Arthur Schopenhauer

A violent overthrow of the government is never acceptable

Kalebsklips
Nac

I'm trying to get a view of both sides as I have to debate this in my English class. A violent overthrow of the government is never acceptable as violence should never be a means to change something. If a dictator is in charge and the country under them violently attempt to overthrow the leader, the country would be stooping down to the same level as their leader. Secondly, a violent overthrow of the government doesn't solve issues unless you are able to restore into a democracy. This is d...

Can the existence of God be proven a priori?

1z3
Nac

An a priori proof of the existence of God is one which claims that God's existence can be proven with the use of reason and hence independent of experience. As a result the role of my opposition will be to state and explain the logical flaws in my argument, hence arguments such as 'the problem of evil' are not relevant to this debate. Let us argue with the notion that the God we refer to is the God of classical theism. I'll be using an ontological argument and it goes as follows: 1. God...
