The Trinity Doctrine: Three Different Persons, All Equally God, All the Same God

Renzzy

Fist of all, I would like to apologize for the unusually long title. I needed more space in order to encompass the topic I would like to discus clearly. Thank you to whoever accepts this debate! The Trinity Doctrine is a rather controversial topic, and there are amy people on both sides of the argument. I believe that The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. I believe that they are all equally God, and that they all make up one God. With that, I will allow my oppon...

Art that has no discernible point--Modern or Postmodern--is not art

SolaGratia

Much of the Modern/Postmodern art of today has no discernible point. It is not beautiful, it does not take skill or time. In many cases it is meant to shock. This is not the function of art, and thus these "artworks" are not art at all....

The Mona Lisa is disappointing

cheekyhobo
SolaGratia

The Mona Lisa is absolutely beautiful. But if you see it up close it is smaller than one would think. That was disappointing, although I think the art is amazing, the size could be bigger....

Children should be lied to

brittwaller

I believe that lying to children, whether in the form of perpetuating silly myths like the existence of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy, or by withholding factual answers to their questions about subjects such as sex and death, is bad, primarily for the children themselves but also for society as a whole. Lying either directly or by omission is harmful because children eventually find out the truth, and an air of distrust is created. Children hear their parents say "It's w...

God is responsible for the creation of humanity.

MoonDragon613

Evolution by nature is haphazard. Judging from the lack of sentient life in the history of the Earth, intelligence does not seem to be a popular evolutionary trend. The existence of life itself and the tremendous fortune of Earth's placement that allowed life to exist are all startling coincidences which has led to the existence of humans in our present form. My position is that this is not an accident and is instead the work of another intelligent entity. To put it simply, without a divine enti...

No Smoking laws. GOOD.

Mikegj1077
Renzzy

Ohio has enacted a no-smoking law in all public places, including bars, restaurants, VFW posts, American Legion posts. I am in favor of this law. My wife died of lung cancer at age 50 in 2005. Tobacco has killed more soldiers than agent orange, radiation exposure experiments, LSD experiments, and bullets in all the American wars since the Civil War. Tobacco is a regressive tax, hurts the poor and uneducated who smoke more. Smoking drives up the cost of health care. Smoking kills, bed fires, Divo...

The concept (ideally) of communism is more beneficial to its people than that of capitalism.

Communism is greater than capitalism. It helps its citizens in ways capitalism never can. Care to disagree? Give me your points....

Predestination

Renzzy

I saw that you were previously engaged in a debate on this topic, and it wanted to challenge you to a debate on the same topic, because it is one that interests me greatly. I have always wanted to debate somebody who is learned in the Bible on this subject, and I finally have the chance! YAY! I am going to enjoy this debate, and I am sure that I will learn how to be a better debtor in the future. I believe that the Bible teaches predestination, and that believing in free will is much like believ...

How do compassionate liberals reconcile themselves to "Survival of the Fittest?"

SolaGratia
brittwaller

Evolution, passing over the relative truth or falsity of its various claims, is hard and emotionless. The "Survival of the Fittest" doctrine, for example, would seem to put a moratorium on human compassion, if indeed it is true. Darwinism has become, like it or not, a central tenet of liberal thought since The Origin of Species came out in 1859. And so I ask you, and I'm hoping for a thoughtful, esoteric liberal, how does "compassionate" liberalism reconcile with "Survival of the Fittest?"...

Abortion should be illegal because it is unethical.

sweetggirl

Abortion should be illegal because many reasons, and here I will name a few: 1. It is unethical 2. An unborn baby is still a baby, babies are human beings, and therefore an unborn baby is still a human being. 3. Killing any human being is murder. 4. No person should be able to decide when another person should be killed....
