About Me:Hi everybody! I am a current Freshman at Saint Anselm College who is studying Politics. For the most part I am a Moderate Democrat who enjoys debating greatly. Religiously I identify as a Roman Catholic. I generally am liberal when it comes to economic and social situations however I do not completely agree with liberals (for example I am against affirmative action and I do believe there should be gun rights to a slight extent.) Due to college, I am not always going to be able to check this page so if I'm inactive that's why. I will accept any debate as long as insults are not thrown towards my party or religion. My favorite American president of all time was John.F.Kennedy. Even though he had his failures such as the Bay of Pigs Invasion, I admire his charisma. My ideology is largely based off 20th century Democratic principles and those of John Locke, James Madison, and Plato. I hope to one day be a part of the government and help the world for the better.
Activities:Distance Running: I ran Cross-Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track in high school and I am continuing it in college by running for my school. I enjoy running because it gives me a strong work ethic that I can bring into my other passions, gives me a way to relieve stress, and has taught me many lessons in life that have made me who I am today. Politics: Like stated, I really enjoy politics. I want to use it to hopefully one day change the world for the better. I am constantly researching politics related things and enjoy debates about it. Breakdancing: I like to breakdance for fun occasionally. It always feels good to do it and be cheered on by others. History: History is something that intrigues me greatly so I study it a lot. I may double major and have it as my second major. History debates are things I love. Skiing: I love to ski as a pastime. Where I'm from, there are reasonably intense winters so I try to take advantage of it. Geography: I love geography too
Beliefs:*In order for a nation to have true freedom it must have a mixture of state and federal powers. *That the government should have the right to intervene in the affairs of businesses to look out for citizens, however businesses should still have independent rights. *That in order to many of the issues of the modern age to be solved, there must be a global effort to solve these issues, not just in the U.S/Europe. (For example more nations should take in refugees so the U.S can take in less that it is right now.) *Catholicism. *Liberalism. *That climate change is a major issue that must be solved. *America's federal government is too influenced by businesses and gerrymandering must be stopped. *That all men are created equal. *That healthcare should be a basic human right but have some restrictions on it. *That people should have the freedom to believe in what they want as long as they don't hate on others in the process.
Books:The Bible: Although some of it is debatable it has many values I admire. Unbroken: Zamperini is a role model of mine when it comes to running. It also has history and running, two things I enjoy learning about. Profiles In Courage: It's by my favorite president and has many lessons that I believe leaders should learn. The Jungle: It shows why government intervention is needed in America to some extent. It also explains how businesses were during America's rise to power.
Movies:Non-Stop: I love Liam Neeson's acting. It: By my favorite horror author and has some really good funny moments. Taken: Same reason as Non-Stop. WWll In Color: I am fascinated in World War ll as stated before. Friday The 13th: Horror is something I enjoy. It's a classic. Star Wars: I am a big Sci-Fi fan. Spiderman: Spiderman is my favorite hero, and I have loved the comic book series Unbroken: I like the story since I run and I love history.
Music:Music by Eminem: His music is great for working out, studying ,etc. It's also inspirational and sounds like English unlike most rap nowadays. Music by Alan Walker: It makes for great study music or relaxing music. I can read fast when listening to his beats. Music by Pitbull: It's fun hangout music. Spanish is also a language I enjoy listening to. Music by Kanye West: Same reason as Eminem. Linkin Park: Inspirational workout music that gets me motivated.

Sports Teams:Celtics: They represent New England (Where I am). Also Larry Bird is easily one of the best shooters in basketball history. Red Sox: Their spirit, and tradition is amazing. Also they represent New England. Patriots: Same reason as the Red Sox, and Celtics. They also always win and I'm a big Tom Brady fan. Magic: I don't know why but I like them. Lions: My dad is a big Detroit fan even though he's never lived or went there. I like them too and I loved Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders. Saint Anselm Hawks: Because I'm going to Saint A's.
TV Shows:Big Bang Theory: Good, clean comedy Fact or Faked: I don't know why, but I liked this show when I was younger. Walking Dead: I am a big zombie survival fan. Ghost Hunters: Ghosts catch my attention even though I am still not sure if I should believe in them or not. Jeopardy: Some of the answers on the show are hilarious.

Could a Female be President of the United States?

PatWilkinson
WheezySquash8

Honestly, I don't think a Female could handle being President. The main reason is that Women don't have the correct mentality, nor are they respected by countries where women are seen as less than men. I mean take this for example: A female President has to go and discuss something with a leader from a country like Saudi Arabia, there is no way that the Leader of that country is going to respect anything that woman would have to say. Another thing, there will be times where going to war with ano...

Corporal punishment on children by thier parents.

Skynet
WheezySquash8

WheezySquash8 voted in my poll that I should debate this topic. The poll's not over yet, so jump in if you want. There won't necessarily be 1 winner. http://www.debate.org/polls/what-topic-should-i-debate-next/?vid=44B02E5A-3693-4F0E-B457-21ABF8319507 I am taking the position that corporal punishment is an effective and non-detrimental way of disciplining children, by their parents, as long as the reason for discipline is correct, punishment is proportionate, and no permanent physical harm...
