Personal faith of a politician should not influence their votes or political decisions

In this country, there is the fundamental separation of church and state. For a lawmaker to inflict his/her personal faith upon that of the rest of the country's would mean a violation of this fundamental rule. In this country, not everyone shares the same morals, faith, and religion. Therefore, why should our lawmakers use their own personal morals, faith, and religion to justify particular bills and laws? If a politician's faith, personal morality, or religion were used as a rational to pass a...

Debate.org should have an ignore list

I, like others go to this site as a way to browse debates/topics in the effort of learning about debates/topics. Sometimes we participate in our own debates. The key here is that we go to this site to learn. Recently I have observed many debate.org debaters either purposefully forfeiting rounds or abandoning debates or not even responding to the arguments made in the opening speech. This turns into a waste of time for people like me who really want to learn about a broad array of topics. I a...

(plz read carefully, I advocate abortion) To improve abortion laws, Roe v Wade should be repealed.

Welcome to this crazy debate. I advocate repealing Roe V. Wade so that abortion can become more easily attainable. I argue that Roe V Wade places unfair and unjust restrictions on women. To make it clear to whomever takes this debate, I am for legalized abortion. Some history of Roe V Wade from wikipedia "The Court ruled that the state cannot restrict a woman's right to an abortion during the first trimester, the state can regulate the abortion procedure during the second trimester "in wa...

Every kind of person has equality of opportunity but only those who deserve a position on merit should win it. Because we live in a meritocracy employers, universities, and other institutions should choosed the best person for the position regardless of background or race. To do anything else is inequitable. Therefore we should dissolve the practice of Affirmative Action....

Senator Mccain does not qualify to be president

claypigeon
Pride_of_Scotland

I am reposting this debate as I find it interesting and the last person bailed. As much of an open Obama supporter that I am, I also vehemently support Senator Mccain. In an election between any other democrat in the field and Mccain, I would probably vote for Mccain. I say this not to pander but to show my bias. As much as I like Senator Mccain, I do not believe he qualifies to be president, legally. My argument has only one main part and I would be happy if someone can convince me that...
