Against Abortion. Good luck to my opponent.

As a conservative, I do believe that abortion should be limited and safer, But illegal is far too extreme. If the government were to make abortion illegal, Women would be forced to bear the child. Around 190, 000 children are born from women aged 14-19, And to say that they have no right to get rid of the child would violate the many years of achieving the state of women's rights we have today. Women have the right to abortion. Although killing a baby is considered the cruelest act by society, You wouldn't be killing a child by getting an abortion. Life isn't made overnight, It is made through the span of nine months and those nine months are the defining months for a baby. Many Religions believe in the practice of abstinence and are strictly against abortion. But that is not the belief system on which our society is based on. People have sex in high school and in college without protection because people are generally irresponsible. The baby would be a mistake and the student would have to leave school and would lose any opportunity for a better career. Not only would it ruin the women's lives, But it would also significantly impact the baby's life. It is probable that the child would be sent away or there would be no father of the child to take care of it. The young women would also have no money for the future of the child who would overall live a miserable life. There is also the case where the child has deformities and would, Therefore, Live a miserable life of a lot of pain. No human being deserves a life of pain. People deserve to experience the good moments and be able to go outside and have fun. But if abortion were illegal, Children who live with deformities in hospitals or stuck at home will live miserable lives. Their brain would be underdeveloped due to the living conditions and would die anyway due to other health related problems. No child deserves to live a life like that and no unprepared mother deserves to be affected by the consequences of one action
Debate Round No. 1

Two things right off the bat: The first round is acceptance and I don't care if you are conservative.

Why are we punishing the child here? It makes no sense, Just because you were irresponsible or some other cause we don't punish the child. Adoption over abortion is a great statement,

Your main argument is an economic problem. If the child is born in the slumps, That is economical, The child can easily get out of poverty in capitalism and deformities does not usually happen.

1)Contrary to what you said, A mother will be affected worse after an abortion than letting the child live. A peer-reviewed study published in BMC Medicine found that women who underwent an abortion had "significantly higher" anxiety scores on the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale up to five years after the pregnancy termination. American women found that women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit suicide than women who carried to term. A study published in the British Medical Journal reported that the mean annual suicide rate amongst women who had an abortion was 34. 7 per 100, 000, Compared with a mean rate of 11. 3 per 100, 000 in the general population of women. A Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology study of men whose partners had abortions found that 51. 6% of the men reported regret, 45. 2% felt sadness, And 25. 8% experienced depression.

2)Abortion disproportionately affects African American babies. In the United States, Black women are 3. 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, According to the Guttmacher Institute. N New York City in 2015, More black babies were aborted (23, 720) than had live births (23, 116).

3) More medical problems for the mother. A study published in the peer-reviewed Cancer Causes and Control found that abortion "is significantly associated with an increased risk of breast cancer" and that "the risk of breast cancer increases as the number of [abortions] increases. "

So no, Abortion only has a negative effect on these issues.

1)Upon fertilization, The baby"s DNA is separate from its mother. The baby has a separate heartbeat from the mother at just three weeks. At just six weeks the cerebral cortex is formed. At seven weeks the baby is hiccuping and kicking. At ten weeks the baby has distinct fingerprints. The baby is awake when the mother is asleep. The baby can have separate sex and blood type from the mother. There is no checkpoint during the pregnancy in which the "clump of cells" magically becomes a human. In some jurisdictions, When a pregnant woman is killed it counts as a double homicide; the law thus recognizing the preborn child is, In fact, A distinct and separate life. The preborn child is no more a mere "clump of cells" than you or I.

2)Though cases of rape and incest are commonly tossed around to make pro-life advocates concede abortion is necessary for extreme circumstances, It is important to note less than 1% of abortions are performed due to rape or incest. When discussing abortion, It is not intellectually honest to focus on the minority of cases in order to make your opponent accept the overwhelming majority of abortions which are done for convenience, Usually due to financial hardship or an inability or unwillingness to assume responsibility for a child.

Incest can lead to a variety of genetic defects due to the limited gene pool. However, It is possible for a child born of incest to be completely normal, Free of genetic mutations. It is important to remember incest may be consensual. In such a case abortion may seem like an easy way to escape public humiliation or, As in an abortion case, Responsibility for the child procreated.

Rape is an undeniably horrific crime. Victims of rape suffer mass amounts of both physical and emotional trauma, Often suffering permanent mental hardship. Many argue we should have compassion on women who are victims of rape and not force them to carry a baby which will only remind her of the trauma she endured. But a baby"s being unintended or undesired still does not justify its termination. One heinous act does not excuse a second. Why should the child die for the sins of the father? The child is as much an innocent victim of the father"s evil act as the mother is.
