 Pro Biological evolution is defined as any genetic change in a population that is inherited over several generations. These changes may be small or large, noticeable or not so noticeable. and scientific theory A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method, and repeatedly confirmed through observation and experimentation. Argument Biological Evolution is more supported by evidence than gravity and it also has no competing theories. These five things help support Evolution. 1. the fossil record of change in earlier species 2.the chemical and anatomical similarities of related life forms 3.the geographic distribution of related species 4. the recorded genetic changes in living organisms over many generations 5. experiments There is no alternative theory for Evolution.  Con Pro has asserted "Biological Evolution is True" This is his BoP, as he affirmed the resolution. This means he must be able to prove with 100% certainty that it is fact, or scientific law. As Pro has already claimed it is a theory, he has already contradicted himself. Nevertheless, I will make one point refuting the 100% truthfulness, or fact, of biological evolution as a theory. One of the definitions for "scientific theory" is " repeatedly confirmed through observation and experimentation." We cannot currently, or repeatedly observe and experiment for evolution. Only observations of past fossil and organisms can be made, this making it all assumptions on the evolution process. |

However, scientific theories are not true...only likely. So my point still stands of the premise:
"Biological Evolution is true"
Well, con obviously has no idea what a scientific theory and what a scientific law is.
My opponent has decided to affirm that it is true. Theories are not proven to be 100% true. Therefore, he has seemingly incorrectly affirmed a resolution, which is not my problem.
if the argument would be "there are no scientific theories as reliable as evolution"
then i would have had an entirely different debate on my hands.
AlexanderOc, its a theory so it is valid. If it was not it wouldn't be a theory. So stating its a theory means i am saying the theory of Evolution is valid.
