Yes, some people think that blood is blue instead of red. I'm willing to debate against anyone who accepts.
Ok, I will procede straight away! Let me ask you a question: what is blood? "a coloured liquid that circulates in the arteries and veins of humans and other vertebrate animals, carrying oxygen to and carbon dioxide from the tissues of the body." 1. For humans, blood is naturally blue, not red. There is the belief that blood is naturally red. This is wrong! I shall explain so. Blood is naturally blue. The only reason why blood appears red, is because there a more red blood cells. The human body requires iron to create red blood cells, the bi-product of this is haemoglobin. The blue blood becomes adultered in colour form when the cells in the blood are exposed to oxygen. To back this up, I will ask this: Why do some people who are suffering from anaemic, have paler faces? Anaemia is when the bodily system of an animal is lacking red blood cells and the production of red blood cells are low. Because there are less red blood cells, the face etc will appear more whiter. The more haemoglobin ( containing oxygen), the less paler, the bodily part will appear to be. Question two: Have you ever considered why when ever someone bleeds- the blood appear much darker? This is because in the body, the blood in the circulation system is moderately red (due to diffusation of oxygen). When the blood leave the body or host, the blood and red blood cells are exposed to a much more greater concentration oxygen, hence the blood will appear much darker in colour. Last question: You know when someone is suffering from extremely cold temperatures, certain body parts such as the veins and lips, turn blueish or more purplish, why is this? When the body is colder, the amount of oxygen consumption and processing is restricted, meaning that it is harder to achieve normal oxygen intake- hence the blood is less oxygenated- less blood cells and haemoglobins, causing certain body parts to be be bluish, because of the blush blood colour-form. This condition- state of body is called "cyanosis" http://www.nhs.uk... 2. Some animals have blue coloured blood regardless. Since my opponent did not make this exclusive to about human blood only, i will extend my arguments to the matter concerning other animals. There is hard, solid evidence of some animals have blue blood. This is a list of some of the species with blue blood: 1)Cuttlefish - 2)Woodlouse- 3)- 4)Tarantula- 5) Clam- 6) scorpion- 7) Snails, nautilus and land-based 8) lobster- 9 Squid - 10) The horseshoe crab - And many more, The proof that these listed animals are blue blooded, is because their "respiratory pigment" equivalent is "haemocyanin", not haemoglobin. In these animals blood system, the haemocyanin works exactly the same way except the blood is already blue and becomes more darker blue when exposed to oxygen. Conclusion: I have shown that blood is naturally blue and is only red when exposed to oxygen and when iron based haemoglobins are induced I have provided examples of animals with only blue blood, and have explained why this is. I have negated the resolution. Sources: http://www.buzzfeed.com... https://www.google.co.uk... http://en.wikipedia.org... https://uk.answers.yahoo.com...; ... Vote con. |

Reasons for voting decision: Forfeit, and no contest. Additionally watch The Strain, blood is sometimes white (meaning pro used a False Dilemma, not blue does not actually equal red).

Reasons for voting decision: Pro did not fulfill his BoP nor did he make any arguments. Pro forfeited and for that lost conduct points. Spelling and Grammar goes to Pro because con kept misspelling the word "colour" haha. Sources to Con because he was the only one with sources..
Put in your resolution what animal you are talking about, as some animals have blue blood. And as you are Pro with BOP you will lose.
