I am taking the pro position that the world should not turn a blind eye to Chinas annexation of Hong Kong, Catch and return policy for escaped North Koreans, And forced labour and sterilization of muslims.

Would there be anyone here who would deny these allegations or make the claim that no intervention is needed?

If that was the case, Nuremberg could never have occurred.
Nor could countries ever 'try to be better, And address modern day genocide.

I'll admit there's hypocrisy in it, But I'd rather governments be hypocrites that try to stop each other from genocide, Than stand by and do nothing.

It's true enough in past warfare, We countries all have butcher'd one another, Doesn't mean we can't 'try to invent codes of war that works to remove some of our more egregious acts.

Missmedic no not really. You could make the claim that not letting transgender men competing in womens sports is a violation of their human rights. First of all thats not even on the same page as ethnic sterilization or annexing democracies. And second, If we hold to your presupposition. The US had no buisness liberating concentration camps because they still practiced segregation.

A country needs a clean human rights record of it's own before it can make assertions against another.

Unlikely, China has no allies that are global military powers. Even their greatest asset which is their economic power is completely dependant on consumer based 1st world countries.

In a ww2 context, Imagine if when Germany attempted to annex Austria the league of nations sent its armies into Poland, Belgium, France and Czechoslovakia and made Japan and Italy economically unsuitable as allies.

I have three propositions.

1. Establish a Western Power military base in Taiwan and drastically increase western military presence in alliance with India, South Korea, Japan and Australia.

2. Break economic dependancy on China and starve the economy by convincing Russia to break its 30 year gas deal with China.

3. Label both the Hong Kong amnexation a humanitarian crisis and allow safe harbour and a path to citizenship to both Hong Kong citizens and chinese Uighurs.
