DEATH PENALTY!!!

I am against the death penalty for a number of reasons. The first and biggest reason that i am against the death penalty is because of the cost it is cheaper to keep someone in prison the rest of there life then it is to execute them (this coming from http://www.balancedpolitics.org...). Also it is unconstitutional because we are supposed to be protected from cruel and unusual punishment however i do not think that anyone can argue that the way they execute someone even by lethal injection it not cruel because the way lethal injection works is it is 3 rounds first makes you sleepy second messed with your mind and third shuts down your body. also take the electric chair they put sponges under your butt to soak up the waist from the shock, and they put a mask over you to keep you from throwing up. but not only is this cruel how is it usual to kill someone as a form of punishment. Another reason why i am against it is because ancient people die take Ray Crone who was convicted of murder and was sentenced to death in PA however DNA evidence proved that he was not guilty after he had spent years on death row. (luckily he got out before he was execute) but that is a perfect example of the justice system being flawed. we are only human so we will make mistakes.

Starting off lets just call the last two drops even, fair enough

1. It only costs 86 dollars to execute a person by means of lethal injection, http://www.prodeathpenalty.com... this is about the same as one day of keeping a person in prison.

"It is cruel and unusual"
2. To correct your half baked example here is how it works, the first injection renders the inmate unconscious, the next relaxes the muscles finally the third which causes cardiac arrest, all while he is unconscious. Using the same site as above. As a side note I'd like to point out that these people on death row had already used cruel and unusual means when they murder and rape.

3. Funny how you used a DNA example, because that even helps more in my favor. That means that it is an even more of a check to make sure the person did the crime that they are accused of. So the innocent lives lost would be astronomically lower than prior to that.

Some of my own arguments

4.In the 70's the government took the death penalty away and murders increased by over 15000 deaths once it was re-instituted the murder rate fell 130 percent. Also over 70% of most crimes are committed by a convicted felon who has been released from prison.

5. This will act as a deterrent to crime, right now its not working because it only kills a few hundred a year if all the criminals on death row were killed by the death penalty it would be a deterrent on crime.

Yeah well we will see how this goes but yeah i guess im typing for the minimum words needed in the stateme
