i personally cannot understand why he always chooses to run when the election is expected to be very close, knowing that he takes votes away from the democrats. He would not have been able to wage his war on auto companies without the support of the democrats. Does he seriously think he can win or is he working for the republicans?
i just want to hear some opinions. :)
I think that what Ralph Nader does with the presidential election is close to what Huckabee is doing with the Republican nomination. As a political activist he runs for president to make himself famous, hence, heard. I doubt that he is working with Republicans, mostly because before he even ran for president he wasn't a supporter of the Republican party. He tends to lean towards the democrats, and when he was accused of stealing votes from Al Gore he said that it couldn't possibly had been his fault because Al Gore did win, only the presidency was "stolen from him" by Jeb Bush among others, and the democrats did nothing about it. Running for president is like his job. The job that he decided to do, not because he is looking towards actually becoming the president, but because he'll be taken a bit more seriously this way. This might turn out to be a discussion more than a debate. I think it's fair if voters just vote on our sophistication of thought. Thank you so much for starting this discussion, it seems really interesting and I'll be looking forward to your next argument. |

Okay... I can't really continue the debate without any input from my opponent so I'll wait until he posts an argument. |

The democrats can easily fix the spoiler effect through instant runoff voting but choose not to. Dems actively opposed its legislation in Alaska.
Obama has pretty much an untouchable charm, massive grassroots support, crazy good money making ability, and is very liked.
McCain has no charm. He's like 80. He's a jingoistic neocon. He's probably locked into public financing which is an albatross around his neck. The right will come around but they don't love him, which probably means they will stay home.
Nader pulled in .3% of the vote last time, and that was when Kerry was the nominee. Oh, and lets not forget the little problem of the money pit worthless war we're stuck in that everybody hates, the close link between Bush and McCain and Bush's dismal approval rating (30%).
Nader might as well run. This thing is going to be a shutout.
