People on welfare don't pay that money back, any student getting a grant has a certain GPA, full time credits, AND most likely student loans. Why drug test a student? Students are working their way towards a career, the poor people get MORE federal assistance than anyone else yet they aren't all in school. If you are on welfare and in school great! However if you're on welfare and you aren't doing anything to better your life it's probably because why should you! The government is just paying for you to hang out. The best jobs in today's world are city/state jobs- benefits, pensions, opportunity, etc. and they all require drug tests. The answers for the poor are available but when the starving gets their food handed to them they will never learn how to hunt.
Well I am just saying what's the reasoning behind drug testing people on welfare..? what people think there's abuse in the welfare programs..? of course there is, but just a minority. News media and Republicans, made this a issue as soon as Obama became President , calling him the "Food Stamp President." Is there not abuse in how people spend the Student loans and grant money..? or a irresponsibility on when to take them out vs getting a job to pay for school...I mean I been to college and its your choice on rather to take loans out or not and how much you want to take out... They make it very easy to take them out, but it is your responsibility to project how much you want to spend on school and what not... The argument that its not okay to drug test student who receive help of any kind from federal funds, because they are working towards something, is fallacy, because more then half the people on some sort of welfare, have jobs they just don't make enough.. My whole point I am trying to make is I disagree with the generalization of welfare recipients being ousted as lazy sitting on their butts when people are working harder for less and there is a fundamental problem with the trickle down economy, when you work your butt off and still need to be on welfare...and if they got to be drug tested because people think their miss using federal funds then by golly everybody who gets help from the government should, lets not discriminate....;) |
