Fox News is not bad, nor is it evil. For this, I would like to here concrete evidence why you think that they're evil.

Lets get something straight, it doesnt have to be evil to be bad. Fox news is BAD for the following reasons:

1) it promotes bias through the syphering of political opinions. Many of the pundants on the show are to one side of the spectrum.

2) sensationalism promotes a lack of integrity within the journalist community, especially by the number one station in america.

3) The CEO uses the channel to promote his own persoanl agenda.

According to your guidelines why Fox News is bad, EVERY news medium would be considered "bad!"

Yes, this is true, but I don't see anything wrong, because every other news medium is doing that, the only difference is that they are liberal, and Fox News is conservative.

2) sensationalism promotes a lack of integrity within the journalist community, especially by the number one station in america.

Sensationalism is used by every other news station, and this was before Fox News. I agree, I do not like sensationalism (If only Bill O'Reilly didn't talk about child molestation so much on "The Factor," I would watch it more often), but seriously, it's not the only news medium doing this.

3) The CEO uses the channel to promote his own persoanl agenda.

The CEO's of the other news mediums ALSO do this. Case and Point: Ted Turner and CNN.

I just don't see what is wrong.

1) Agreed, the resolution you posted was Fox news is bad. i definatly think juggernaut news cos. like CNN, MSNBC ect. are harmful alongside FOX

2) Refer to number one.

3) And again, refer to number one.

If youre looking for some reason that FOX is worse, you can see that they do this to such a greater extent (especially #s 2 and 3). If you can agree that those 3 things are problems and constitute a "Bad" media outlet, than a close examination will show you that FOX is the worst or tied for worst of the major outlets.

I agree with you with #2, but seriously, the only major conservative outlet is being attacked for apparently no reason but that they are conservative, not liberal. That was what I was aiming at with this debate, but I see that this debate is valid, too.

But anyway, back to the debate. #1 and #3, I have no concern.

I understand your point of view, and i agree that many anti-FOXers are such simply because they are anti-conservative, but there are very valid reasons why to support the fact that FOX is a bad news outlet. Im glad we cna conquer to this fact.

Al Jazeera English is the best news channel. It features real news and is more objective than American media outlets. It is unafraid to tackle the important issues. I encourage you to visit its website and watch the live feed. I was blown away the first time I saw it. Don't believe the demonization of the American media. Decide for yourself if it is "evil"

Fox News is not more bias then other networks, if anything they are fair and balanced or the same. In fact a study group found that Fox News as a whole was 50-50 with showing both sides out of certain other channels, like CNN,MSNBC,etc.

Fox News is bad, lol - funny.

If Fox News is bad..please put in some other names as well such as big news channels like CNN. The problem is Fox News's Bias correct? Well Newsflash - Can you name one news channel that ISN'T Bias? What about channels like regular fox, CNN, msnbc?? Does it not matter that they are Bias?? For some reason everyone feels the need to attack Fox News for swinging to the right..but decides to ignore the fact that majority of news channels swing to the left.

Secondly keep in mind that reporting news and their talk shows are two different things. They do a fantastic job at reporting the news as it happens --the things they say in their talk shows..will obviously have a bias opinion due to the fact that it IS a talk show after all.

As I mentioned earlier.. I don't understand why democrats feel the need to trash anyone and anything that doesn't agree with their perspective. Just turn the channel to CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, PBS and you'll find the coverage to be more than satisfactory. Skip over Fox News libbies, its not good for your health to expose yourself to other perspectives.

Pro made a good argument. I would have made a similar one myself. Con is obviously defending FoxNews against attacks that it is bad based solely on its political bias. Pro made the point that ALL mass media is bad though -- liberal or conservative. So, no I don't think Fox should be singled out for its opposing viewpoints, but it is just another tool that perpetuates mass ignorance. The media greatly affects elections and compromise the limited form of democracy we already have. The media also gets to choose what is important in America. But a lot of things that are on the news are only important, BECAUSE they are in the news and not for any great impact that they actually have on the viewing public. I'm actually currently reading "The Image" by Daniel J. Boorstin (about pseudo-events). If any of you have read it, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't read it -- you should!

Concrete evidence for evil? That takes a concrete definition for evil. Since neither good nor evil can be defined with out incredibly subjective views, I'm just going to sit this out even though I think Fox News is hurting the country.
