Or imaginary invisible green elephants do not exist.
nobody said because one person makes a claim, the other has to make an alternative claim. that has nothing to do with a burden of proof.
what would the alternative to imaginary invisible green elephants be ?
Definition:
Burden of Proof is the obligation on a party in a dispute to provide sufficient warrant for their position.
Another note:
Since neither the Theist or Atheist can prove with 100% certainty that God exists. The example of an argument saying, "God doesn't exist therefor the burden of proof is on someone to believes God does exist" is called shifting the burden of proof via an Argument from Ignorance fallacy. This is a false dichotomy in that it excludes a third option (unknown in this case), which is that there may have been an insufficient investigation, and therefore there is insufficient information to prove the proposition be either true or false.
