Pro Suicide in the LGB community is a very bad thing. Studies done in 2006 show that suicide is more than 2 times likely than there straight peers.[1] This is majorly from their family friends and society being against homosexuality. If it was more accepted than this number would drop. 2. Rights First off I do not believe everyone should have the right to marry. But if a homosexual male or female who has done nothing wrong, and who loves someone as much as a straight person, they should have the right to marry. 3. Discrimination Homosexual people do not choose to be gay. [2] studies show that homosexuality is caused by hormonal processes and early childhood development. Yes, they choose to act on these impulses. But this can lead to depression and suicide. Why should people's feelings be suppressed even through it is not harming anyone? Pro You act like this is a contagious illness. I will agree that there will be more homosexuals but that is because of homosexual people staying "in the closet" because they are afraid of what will happen. "Only 1.5% of deaths are from suicide. Not all suicides are from homosexual-based reasons." I know that. I am talking about homosexual people being suicidal from not being accepted by other beings. The hatred and anger towards homosexuals causes people to TRY TO KILL THEMSELVES! This is the problem at hand. Currently america have freedom of religion and separation of church and state. It cannot choose one religion over another. Why is this a bad thing? I do not see why this is such a problem. There is around 7 billion people on this earth, and I don't see way this a such a bad thing. Population affects everything, workforce, infrastructure, industry, military etc. With decline in population, all of those things decline as well. You also mentioned the adoption of children. Research has shown that heterosexual parents are better than homosexual parents. http://www.frc.org... Scroll about halfway down. Maybe instead of focusing on the support of homosexuality, we should focus on supporting the adoption of children? For centuries, homosexual individuals lived alongside heterosexual individuals and there was no trouble. All of a sudden, "HOMOSEXUALITY MUST BE ACCEPTED!" Why? Thank you for the debate. |

Reasons:
Although someone may argue that relationships are not all about reproduction, I will say what I have said many times: Being homosexual is not normal, simply because of the FACT that if only males, or only females existed on the earth, without the aid of modern science they WOULD NOT be able to reproduce, and would eventually die out. This leads to my previous statement, homosexuals should not EXPECT to be treated normally, and probably never will be, simply because homosexuality can not physically sustain human life as heterosexuality does.
