 Pro  Con As I see it, There are definitely scenarios in which people could claim their experiencing life as their race has affected them negatively in certain aspects. For example, A young black kid who is an aspiring engineer may have more difficulty fulfilling their dream in the US then a white person would. If the black child went to a predominantly black school as a child they may be dissuaded from pursuing their dream career as there is a stigma in many black communities in the US against excelling academically and so the black student may be discouraged by his peers to do things such as study hard for school tests and join a science club. Whereas a white student wouldn't experience the same stigma against pursuing engineering, And would, Therefore, Have an easier time entering the engineering business because of this. |
