Many people just put a dot, line or splatter paint on a paper they are called artist; when the people who show real talent and good detail on a different canvas, are called criminals.
art is not just something put on a paper it is the reflection of the person creating it, art is something that come from within, not just a simple line or dot. It is a feeling, no one can show how you feel through what they do better than you can.

Graffiti- Street art
Graffiti has been around since prehistoric times and has given us great insight to recent cultures and civilizations.

Thankyou for putting up this debate I look forward to discussing whether it is an art or not.

Graffiti may be thought of as an art but it isn't. It is just a writing in certain form with a picture on the side.
Copy and paste this link. It shows a picture of graffiti. It is just a sighn on a wall with some decorations to make it
look fancy. It is not indited for art therefor it is not
Debate Round No. 1

Thank you for excepting this debate. But as you see there are many different types and forms of art.
People paint dots, lines and splatters on paper. They are called artist, but when someone shows talent and detail on a different canvas. They are called criminals. Which one do you think is the real artist? People tend to not consider how much work and effort is put into the graffiti. Art is not just something put down on paper; it is a reflection of the person creating it, it is something that is coming from within you not just a simple line or dot. Anyone can draw a line or dot, but no one can show how you feel through art better than you can.
Many see graffiti as useless, it isn"t. Graffiti has been around since prehistoric times and has given us great insight to previous cultures and civilizations. According to Greg Eickmier. Graffiti can also have a positive effect. Verel said. "But little is paid to the ways graffiti is harnessed for good in a form that"s both constructive and authentic."
Thirty years ago hip hop was labelled "noise" and graffiti will follow the same trajectory. Views on graffiti have already changed. In Brazil during the late 1990's when police caught someone doing graffiti they would often harassed or shot at them. Today many of the officers support graffiti initiatives for city beautification, and as a crime deterrent. Graffiti can be a career opportunity for children of low income neighborhoods. Many leading street artist have put graffiti to good use for social development, founding art schools in low-income neighborhoods and partnering with the police to paint murals in run-down areas.

Actually some business owners hire people to do graffiti to embellish their buildings.
I am actually embracing the facts that are refused to be believed by others.

Thank you, the reason I decided to do this debate because I was inspired by my research for an essay that I am doing for a class.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a debate about this topic over 6 months ago. Not sure if I'll take this debate, though, as I agree with Pro that graffiti could fit within any definition of art (whether it's a painting, or an expression of emotions) [According to Merriam Webster, Art is also defined as an occupation, which graffiti isn't an occupation]

You are passing off your examples of 'art' with objective qualities, while art is very much subjective. Same with graffiti. Both are examples of art, but one is legal, the other is not.

Full definition of graffiti - writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place.

The keyword here is 'illicitly', so therefore it is illegal. It is unfair to present bad examples of art, and say good things about graffiti. There is bad graffiti as well. But with bad art, it is presented legally while bad and good graffiti alike are presented illegally. If you cannot accept that then I suggest you keep your mind off the facts.
