It's a simple debate, is religion based on facts or fiction.
Religion is fact. |

Can religion be defined as fact is a question that all should ask, this is not about the faith itself but the context of what that faith is built upon. We are lead to believe in various forms of religious context, that the written word is gospel to the truth. But is it really, or is it just a centuries old game of Chinese whispers?
We have to remember some actual facts to prove this point, for religion itself whether it's Christianity, Judaism, Islam or one of the many older religions that at some point they all stem from one set of scriptures. The context of those scriptures and the way they were written, is completely different to the spoken language of today's ever growing world. We also know through translations of our own current languages, that various things are different in language from one country to another. A prime example of this would the translation of English to Traditional Chinese and vice versa, one word can be translated into a different context and mean something completely different. So is religion really based on fact, or a centuries old story told for thousands of years that has been changed throughout that time.
Honestly, I don't know what exactly the 'pro' or 'con' mean in this debate? Does that mean I support fact or fiction? Anyway, to start off, I want to say that this is an incorrectly worded question. Religion is neither fact nor fiction. Religion is a faith. To me, I find the argument of fact or fiction is almost the same idea as 'true' or 'false'. There is no solid proof to proclaim that God exists. If there is, we won't call it a faith but a fact. We will have to learn it in school just like how it is mandatory that we need to take science class. Just because religion isn't something we can find solid proof doesn't necessary mean it is fiction, though. Since you can't exact prove a religion to be true or not, you can't disprove it either. If you can't disprove it, religion can't be called fiction. |
