this topic is not all about letter, it's all about spirits of letter. How can you answer my argument if you dont have any faith? you cannot answer it by asserting of bible verses that seems no meaning to you.

Agent, you cannot expect that a Protestant would argue much differently than Beemor. As he states- he said NOTHING that is Atheistic in content, and simply used your own example of scripture against you. The verse you used as "proof" is only proof that she was ordered to revere her own son!!! Just as the statement, woman behold your husband, man behold your wife... it's a request that one be honored and revered, not that the one doing the beholding be revered. That's just ludicrous.

There is no biblical justification for the reverence of anyone but God. If you believe Jesus is the son of God, then you revere HIM. There is no biblical justification for the titles "holy mother", "mother of god", or even "virgin mary". She had 9 children, for God's sake!!!

As I said, I was arguing from the perspective of a Christian. Therefore, I would have replied to any biblical verses accordingly.
Also, just wondering, how did you know I was an atheist?

no beemor, what im telling is that, you might give a sound argument for the reason to debunked my proof, unfortunately we would end up with " cut-copy-paste" debate, example, i will cite verses from the bible, you're athiest and on my belief you doesnt give any weight in the bible. thanks once again.

Quite telling, isn't it? I brought up no argument that relies on an atheistic standpoint. In fact, I was arguing from a Christian standpoint. Your argument simply had no valid content. You were espousing that we should revere Mary simply because she's the mother of Jesus, but that makes no sense, since we don't judge a parent based on their children. Also, your "profound proof" was profoundly errant. It literally showed absolutely nothing about how Mary should be revered, and I can't even see how one would come to the conclusion that it did.

Remember this: An atheist need not argue from the position of an atheist, nor does a Christian have to argue from the position of a Christian. I've had a couple debates where I aregued from a christian perspective: one as Con in a debate "God hates homosexuals..." and one where I argued that the bible is infallible.

You're debating against my arguments, not against me, so it matters not what my actual beliefs are.

beemor, i need a protestant person regarding on this matter. your an athiest, and i think this will end up in nothing. we will never cross each other point, you need to have a strong grip with the bible.

Pro Mary was involved in the mysteries of Christ. As the most holy Mother of God she was, after her Son, exalted by divine grace above all angels and men. Hence the Church appropriately honors her with special reverence. \|One and Most profound proof\|: ("Woman, behold your son!"—John 19:26-27). Report this Argument Con There is not one other person ever who is revered based on the merits of another individual. Just as we do not show reverence of any kind for Einstein's father, neither should we for Jesus' mother. To express any feeling for a person - this is something we do based on the actions or merits of that person, not the actions or merits of their children. Simply being the mother of Jesus does not give us reason to revere her. If we are to revere her, it must be based on her own actions or merits. In round 2, please give an example of something Mary has done that makes her deserve our reverence, and explain why this is reverence-worthy. Also, your "profound" proof is quite lacking. Such a statement says nothing about Mary. It means just as much as the statements "Woman, go make me a sandwich" or "Dude, check out that girl." If you disagree and still hold that it is some type of profound proof that Mary should be revered, please explain to me and the voters why in round two, in addition to explaining what Mary did to deserve our reverence. Just as we don't hold Einstein's father in high esteem, there is no grounds to revere Mary based on her son's merits and actions. Report this Argument

Even though my argument was devaoid of atheist-specific reasoning, my opponent found this as a good reason to ignore me altogether, claiming that he was looking for a protestant opponent. I extend everything I've said in round one. I have shown that Pro has given no valid reasons that Mary deserves special honors and reverence.
