The resolution for this debate is: Presidential term limits should be abolished.

I will be arguing for the PRO side of this debate, Which means I support this resolution.

Round 1 should be acceptance, Round 2 arguments, And so on from there.

Good luck to whoever accepts!

The limit of terms of a president came from the beginning of America. Our founding fathers were fearful and cautious of a tyrannical ruler similar to King George. Thomas Jefferson, The first secretary of state, Said, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants" (Jefferson 1787) To prevent tyranny, The revolutionists wanted checks and balances. Imagine if there was one president for 15 years. Would that president get power hungry, Or assume more power than what the democratic republic is designed to have?
Back before the American revolution Thomas Hobbes, A famous British political philosopher, Created the idea of calling government in general a leviathan. Originally, The leviathan was a sea monster mentioned in the bible, And Hobbes used this term to describe government of all sorts of societies. One famous idea Hobbes had was that whenever a government becomes illegitimate the people had a right to cut off the head of the leviathan and entrust a new ruler. Hobbes work majorly influenced John Locke who literally came up with the idea that all people have the right to "life, Liberty, And property" (Locke).
Finally, Presidents have different policies and ideas; those ideas lead America to change perspective and turn a new leaf every 4 to 8 years. Whoever voted in 2016 was either really happy or really upset, But politics is a pendulum. It swings from side to side, So if we have a republican president now next time it will be totally different and I believe citizens have a right to change their leader.

The united states is the most powerful country in the world, Having term limits helps protect us from having one person becoming too powerful
