I'm quite traditional in the sense that I believe a marriage should be a life long priority. Opponent needs to justify having a marital affair. R1- Acceptance.

Rules:
We are going to focus on love marriages not for pied/arranged marriages.
Since its a short debate, here's the layout:
R2:Three main points
R3: Discuss and share our own personal views on marriage n affairs
R4:Rebuttals to r2-3.

shout me in the comments if you have any other suggestions for round 4.

1-Okay, so in various belief systems, such as Sikhism and Hinduism, marriage means the spiritual souls of two people intertwine. Therefore breaking it will bring unhealthy consequences, such as depression and other various mental health issues.

2-Having affairs increase the chances of STIs and unplanned pregnancies. Even with safe sex, there's still a 3% chance of insemination.

3-A committed couple provides stability for the nuclear family in terms of child development, social status/reputation, and so on.

Il expand re intimate acts: Depending on upbringing, basic intimate acts with lustful sexual tension, like flirting with a new crush might be acceptable ONLY if not taken further, but if you're really strict then that's treading thin ice, because one should limit/devote their sexual energies towards their SO (in normal love marriage).

that's not an affair then is it, affairs are unknown +// unacceptable to the other SO. Polygamy on the other hand is mutual acknowledgement of open relationships

What about poliamorous committed relationships?

i would say an affair begins when you participate in intimate acts with someone other than yr partner.

What constitutes an affair? Do you include poliamory as an affair? A side relationship while being involved in an open relationship? Or do you specifically mean an unfaithful affair while involved in a monogamous relationship?

More like a convo rather than a debate

EDIT: That claim being "marriage should be a life long priority."

I'm sorry bro, but that is just not how logic works. You've made a claim, thereby you have the burden of proof.
