Should Citizens be allowed to own guns

@billsands I often hear people talk as though the bill of rights was intended for a 1776 population. The bill of rights however ties directly to the items in the declaration of independence and while the methods perhaps have evolved. Calling the 2nd amendment "Silly" is not only ignorant, It's chauvinistic. I think it's important for the populace to own guns in defiance of any potential tyranny. I had this debate with a brother in law just a few days ago- who used the same argument- "that's silly". My question is do you disagree with the original premise for which the founding fathers started the revolution? They revolted due to unfair representation in the British Parliament and excessive and unfair taxation practices. Look at the U. S. Government today- minorities get specific advantages merely because they're not white, Women get Tax incentives, Merely for not being male. The electoral college isn't even based on a popular vote. The top 10% wage earners, Pay 67% of the total income taxes, The bottom 50% of wage earners only contribute 3%, But often utilize the majority of the government spending. Anybody that doesn't see that the bigger this disparity grows is causing resentment and resentment when pushed to the bring, Just as it did in 1776, May cause another revolution. In my opinion, Regardless of which side you are on the debate- you should be entitled to fight for your rights and if you're not a proponent of that, You should have the non-government mandated ability to defend your person, Family and property. If you think that just because the government has super sophisticated weapons, Such that owning a gun would be a useless gesture, I invite you to watch the news about ISIS, Afghanistan and generally what we call terrorist networks. They've successfully fended off defeat from American weapons superiority with not much more than rifles and a few explosives. An armed citizenry, Will always cast a shadow on Tyrannical objectives of a despot

Just give up your guns. . You don't need to be at war with your unnecessary police force that you don't even want to be a part of, You don't want to the training, You don't want the responsibility, You rather want to have a gun as some toy thing while it ensure kids are being massacred on a regular basis. .
