To me spanking your kids or anyone else spanking their kids is completely not okay! your children are supposed to be the best thing that ever happened to you, what would make anyone think putting their hands on them would be okay. Children are young they are supposed to make mistakes, disciplining them in other ways ( time out, standing in the corner, taking away loved belongings ect.) works just as well if you do it in the right way. children should not be afraid of their parents. Respecting them and listening to them is a completely different story. I hear a lot of parents (especially older generations) say things like my kids only listen if i put my hands on them. nine times out of ten they only listen to that because you never gave them a chance to listen to anything else. Children are very smart they catch on to things very quickly. there should never be a negative relationship between a mother or a father and a child the best way to make a relationship positive is by communication. there should never be a reason a finger needs to be laid on a child.
