I think they shoudn't because it dosnen't allow them to experess themselfs.
Kids need room to express themselfs be cause they need insperation. Maybe to see other people dress apropreatly would help them to see not to dress sloppy and wear to tight of clothes
As Pro, my stance is that children should have to wear school uniforms. I can speak on a personal level, having attended both a uniform required school and a free clothing school. In today's society, clothing is one of the leading signs of a persons stature and personality. Its a nice idea to say that we shouldn't judge others on how they dress, but its simply not the case. At the non-uniform school there were many different cliques. People all dress certain ways, being snubbed by some and accepted by others. Some went through abuse and others were the abusers. It was very rare that people from different groups intermingled. There was a very definite sense of fear of others. Talking, touching, even looking at people of a different group was just something you didn't do. Peoples dress styles defined themselves and limited their social acceptance. However, at the uniform school that wasn't a problem. There was a general acceptance of everyone there. Yes, there still were cliques, but they were very open. The reason cliques existed was only because certain people were best friends with some more than others. But everyone was equally treated by each other. The uniforms masked any presuppositions people might have had they been wearing regular garments. Rather, everyone was equal, and people were able to express themselves for who they were, not by their clothes, but by themselves. Because they were accepted people got to know them for who they were. People could express themselves with other people, not with a misguiding view. I was personal friends with some people I would never have had a chance with in a non-uniform school. I do not have a good sense of style, and my friends did. But because we met on an equal playing field we got to know each other for who we really were. Then when we did meet outside school we looked beyond the shirts and pants, because we knew who the person actually was. It wasn't the clothes that defined oneself, but the person. Clothes don't help you express yourself, clothes help you keep warm. That's what they were meant to do when they were invented. Its progressed through the years to be a sign of status and is still that way today. It should be that people can wear whatever and not be judged but its not like that in the real world. Uniforms keeps people clothed, but takes away the fashion profiling, making everyone equal. Uniforms actually free people more so to express THEMSELVES, not their sense of fashion. If you feel you have a chance to win, you must show that everyone in non-uniform schools accepts everyone for who they are, no matter what the dress. You have to show that there is no discrimination among cliques in non-uniform schools. You must also show that clothes are somehow able to help people express themselves more so than the actual person. |

A pity you could not respond within the three day time limit. But in fairness I will not add anything to my current position. It will stand as it is: school wide uniforms permit school wide relationships, being an individual makes you just that, an individual. |

I'll remind the voters that these debates are determined by who proved their point better, not the stance you personally agree with. If you feel the need to justify your anonymous vote, you can do so in the comments area. Since bluecat0 has failed to provide and argument in rounds 2 and 3, I will maintain the stance I presented in round 1, being that individuality singles one off, while uniforms equalize everyone and provide for a better social environment. Darth_Grievous_42 out. |
