The purpose is to raise awareness of global warming, and to get people to start acting.

If it was and the beginning and end of every season, then it would be two days in a row wouldn't it? Once a season would mean that people could try different ways of reducing unnecessary CO2 pollution. Turning off central heating, turing off air conditioning, turning off televisions and electric heaters.d

There's no reason it should be restricted to just turning off lights.
How about car-less days? ;-)

The purpose of earth hour, as many people misunderstand, is NOT to save energy or help the enviroment. Granted, it could, and that is the ultimate goal, but the reason for doing it is to show how many people care enough about global warming to give up all electronics for an hour.

Pro If earth hour was twice a season, we would be able to help the world in global warming. I think it should be in the begining and end of every season! Report this Argument Con first off i will thank my opponent for starting this debate first to defend against my opponents first round. the claim that this will help global is flawed because he presents no evidence that this will have an effect in even if it dose the majority of the global warming problem is coming from cars and not from electricity. secondly because global warming cause a feedback cycle it is to late to stop global warming.http://www.ecobridge.org... .because of these feedback loops it would be imposable to stop global warming. secondly even if this had some effect it wouldn't have a big enough effect to do any good. Con well because my opponent has forfeited his last round he has dropped all of my arguments and should not be allowed to bring them up in the next round. so extend across that he provides no evidence that this will help so there is no reason that this would help solve global warming. also extend that because of the negative feed back loop it is already too late to stop global warming. so my opponent has failed to meet his burden of proof because he has no arguments that would support earth hour being twice a season so thus you vote con on this topic Report this Argument
