I think exams are outdated and ineffective. We as students have suffered so much to revise and memorise all these texts and information- but to what cause? To put them all down on paper, just to forget them the next day, or if you're unlucky, within the next few hours. The teachers claim that the purpose of exams are to test one's ability, but there really isn't any "testing" because everyone would be putting down the same answers. Of course, there will be some people who do better than others, but that's just because one is better at memorising than others.

What happens if you are unwell during the examination? What happens if you feel sick and you need to leave? There's only one chance to do the exam, and so it's unfair to grade a person based on that particular day of examination.

Exams as a whole do not test one's ability, in my opinion. I think it is just the matter of memorising facts and "spitting" it back out in an exam paper. It puts pressure on teenagers and children to remember all these facts, and it is completely unnecessary.

Exams should be conducted in schools. It is the only way of testing a student's capability. The students need to study for the exams for their own life to get a job and be successful. If they don"t want a good life with a good job they may quit school. It is not just memorizing some notes that the school give. If they choose to do so they could but the actual purpose is to test their knowledge and if they know how to apply them. If they don"t like pressure, they would face more pressure when they face the real world without any knowledge. This is why schools give tests.
