Con

I thank my opponent in advance for accepting my debate. I think laptops should not be allowed in classrooms. Students would get attracted to it, they would not be able to concentrate on their studies.

Pro

Laptops should be allowed in schools because laptops will be much faster than textbooks. Laptops have more information than textbooks. Laptops are much faster to look up things and con just tell me that how students would get attracted to the laptop and will not be able to concentrate on their studies, you have not provided any source related to it, so the burden is on con, how he will prove his statement, "Students would get attracted to it, they would not be able to concentrate on their studies."

Con

No. laptops should not be allowed in school because it will attract children in school, children will feel jealousy that he has a better laptop.

Pro

No, you are not right. Like schools provide notebooks, books to study, they will also provide laptops with textbooks saved on it and of course, schools will not provide different, different laptops to different, different students. Again, you haven't provided any source related to it.

I believe laptops should be allowed in school. Nowadays we are surrounded by technology whether we want to be or not. I feel strongly about laptops within a school environment because first of all it engages the students. 90% of the day children on either reading books, working on a worksheet, or listening to a lesson being taught. Having laptops is a great way to "change things up" within a classroom environment to attract your students. Also, with the new PARCC Testing, students need to become familiar with using laptops. Not only does it take time to learn how to type on a laptop, but it takes time to learn how to navigate the tools provided to successfully use a laptop if you haven't used one before. Technology usage is just going to increase over the next 10 years, therefore, we shouldn't resist implementing it within the classroom.

Ya know, in my school we use laptops but we don't bring our own, we use the school ones because they block any distracting website. (YouTube, Facebook, Porn, etc).

Reasons for voting decision: Pro had more convincing arguments because Con's only argument was that laptops would "attract" students and distract them. They extrapolated on this idea by claiming students would be distracted by better looking laptops of other students, however pro refuted this by bringing up how schools could provide laptops for all of the students themselves, all of which would be the same. Pro also brought up how laptops are faster for looking up information, and have more information than textbooks, which con did not refute.
