The Death Penalty should not be allowed.
The first round is for acceptance. Thank you!
I would like to hear your reasoning to get a better grasp of your thoughts. In general the death penalty should be allowed as an out for people who do not wish to fight any longer in serious cases, though this would not be an actual penalty. At what point in most people's mind would it be okay to put someone to death? |

Electrocution, Firing Squad, and Hanging. These are just a few methods of the Death Penalty. Today, there are 41 different capital offenses which are punishable by death! The government does not hold the right to take away someone"s life no matter how severe the crime. Capital punishment is a legal first-degree murder committed by the state. Not to mention the $1.26 million the death penalty requires! The money used to pay for the death penalty could be used to provide support and counseling to victims and their families. Many innocent people have also been executed. In a study conducted by legal experts from Michigan and Pennsylvania, concluded that 144 people have been absolved for being innocent. Yet, the innocence rate is 4.1%, more than twice the rate of exoneration. This means that an untold number of innocent people have been executed. The death penalty also doesn"t improve or make a significant impact on anything in today"s society. The criminal doesn"t even understand their mistake or the consequences since they"re dead. They don"t have time to repent or apologize for the crime they committed. Depriving someone of their right to live is completely unfair and definitely needs to be reconsidered.
