I know many people have heard the comments Kenye West spoke about slavery being a choice. Do you believe that slavery was a choice made by people from Africa to come to other countries to suffer and die? Please explain in details with your opinion. I believe slavery was a choice but also was a choice. But I will better explain if anyone is willing to challenge this.

Slavery was not a choice, sir. By definition, slavery means the unwilling captivity of human beings, against their will. Kanye West is an ignorant person to say something so obscene. Slaves did not choose to be slaves. They were held captive and brought to the New World in crowded ships. They did not choose to be slaves. Slavery was an atrocious practice and should never be spoken of with respect.

Different tribes in Africa sold their rivals into slavery, so not a choice of those who were enslaved but it was their neighbor's choice to sell them. Slavery was a system that in it's early days needed the support of the other black tribes to support it.
