At my school students have to have id cards to get in the lunch line in order to recieve lunches. I do not understand this. This is a brand new thing at our school. It is supposed to make the lunch line go faster, but rlly its goes slower bc ppl dont no how to do it. Rlly i think it is dumb. WHO AGREES WITH ME??
Greetings. I'd like to thank my opponent for starting this debate. With that said, let us proceed: In today's case, I will be favoring the usage of ID cards in middle school to receive lunches. Using I.D cards can provide plenty of benefits. First, lets address how this benefits a lunch system that sells lunches for profits in advance; a system that has parents pay for their children's lunches a month in advance. Given that there are typically a plethora of students getting lunches, there has to be a means of keeping track of who gets the lunches, as it would be rather easy for students to take lunches (without having paid for them) otherwise. With the I.D system, faculty members at the lunch line can confirm who received their lunch and who is attempting to take a lunch without already having paid for it in advance. Second, in a lunch system that provides lunches for free or charges the students for lunches up front, this system can actually be used the students who like to "race to the lunch line" from being successful. A faculty member can call up each grade of students, and each student would have to present their I.D to prove they were in their particular grade. To keep things fair, the faculty member would call up a different grade each day. This would prevent a certain students from always being first or last. This would keep the SPEED of getting lunches fairly balanced for all the students. Finally, usage of IDs can help any kind of lunch system in the area of statistics and research. Schools can used the information gathered from students "presenting their IDs" to make the lunch system more efficient. So overall, students having to present IDs can be extremely beneficial. Of course, if we go about looking at the resolution literally, then my case would still be won as my opponent has clearly stated that his middle school has to have IDs in order to get lunches. I now await my opponent's rebuttal. |

In the comment section, a friend of my opponent pointed out another alternative for lunch and accuses my argument of not applying to it, but how it applies is fairly simple. The lunch staff could still prevent people from racing to the lunch line by requiring students to come to the line in an alphabetical order (where the students numerically alphabetically rank in their class could be listed on their student IDs). With this system, the lunch staff could simply call different categories (last name letters) of people each day. This would insure that no one was always last in line. That said, I wasn't obligated to answer this issue which a mere FRIEND of my opponent's pointed out. It is my opponent's job to make arguments and she has yet to respond to any one of mine. Furthermore, my opponent did not define the resolution (as in where it applies and such), so my choice of action in round 1 is (and will remain to be) completely justified. With all this being said and done, I strongly urge that you vote in favor of the contender. Thank you. |

I vote for Logical-Master because he provides a Logical solution and if CON cannot even post a rebuttal or closing argument, but a random useless opening argument, then she shouldn't be debating like this.
In the next round, I'll provide a few clarifications concerning how my arguments still function under the kind of lunch system you're referring to, but the fault still belongs to my opponent.
One more thing: It is not my job to do research about my opponent, ESPECIALLY since this debate is not focused on her.
