If the people want the president to serve more than twice they should be allowed to. It un-democratic otherwise. I don't think this will be a long argument, so I'll have two rounds.

The only reason we have term limits is to bring power away from the president. Without term limits, say someone like Obama would have won the third election (which he would have) and continued ObamaCare. Well, in the long term, ObamaCare actually hurts the people who need it the most. Each time you use insurance their is a certain cost you have to pay before your insurance covers it. Before ObamaCare, this was most of the time about 1,000 USD. After ObamaCare, it skyrocketed to 5,000 - 7,000 USD, with an average of a 650% increase of the down payment. This was a downright lie, which is why Trump is currently abolishing ObamaCare.

This is only one possibility of the countless that could happen without term limits. The whole point of the American Experiment was to see how well a small federal government could do. Without term limits a president could be sneaky and use a loophole to make a powergrab and become a dictator, destroying the fragile government the US stands on.
Debate Round No. 1

Good point, but what if Hillary Clinton won? (She did win the popular vote after all) She probably wouldn't have abolished it. Things like this can also occur without term limits. Also, this is assuming Obama runs for a third term. Before term limits existed (correct me if I'm wrong) FDR was the only president who ran for a third term.

FDR was the only president to run for more than two terms. But if the law was never made, almost all presidents would have certainly attempted to stay in power for as long as possible. The reason none before FDR did was because they wanted to follow in the footsteps of George Washington. Term limits should exist to prevent any sneaky power grabs from any president.

Simple, if voters get mad at the president for not fufilling on their promises, they won't vote for them in the next election.

that's just ludicrous, u need regular term limits because any leader can promise things in a manifesto and lie about it.

So you want a dictator to fun the US. Do you know just about every dictator does horrible things toward there own citizens. Then they go and try to do those same horrible things to the world. It always start nice. Then they get so power hunger, and start doing terrible things. Not a good idea
