Despite the bible stating that God is a loving creator that can love beyond the scope of the human mind, he certainly does not encourage this in the instructions he gives to the Jews. from the demand to massacre the multiple tribes of people living in Canaan or the "promised land", to the fiery destruction of two cities due to homosexuality, God is a terrible example for humans.
I'm not an expert in Christianity or religion but I'll do my best on this debate. First of all, I am sure that when the Bible says that God is a loving creator, it means loving towrards those who follow him and believe in him. He ordered massacres of the Jews because the Jews didn't follow what God said. With each holy book, God tried to reach different people, and gave them a "job" to converting other people. This is the point of all religions, to convert people. Second of all, even without the certain illustration of God in the Bible, humanity doesn't just get terrible ideas from the Bible. By showing that God doesn't like the Jews for example, the Christian belief is reinforced so that Christians would do their best by following the religion. What would happen if the Bible said the Jews have failed to follow God correctly, but it's OK because God will forgive them? Christians wouldn't be as encourged to convert people to their religion. I also think that massacres were not intended, but were done because the Jews refused to give in to the back then, new word of God. Your turn. |

Sinceyou wish to forfeit this debate, then I will withhold from continuing the argument. I just want to clarfiy one thing though, and that is the fact that in the Bible God loves the Jews. Although they are punished a great deal of times for disobeying him, "God" always calls them his "chosen people" so God does not dislike the Jews like you mentioned earlier
