Everywhere you go you see people looking down on their phones using social medias. People are busy using the internet and didn"t cherish the time they had with their friend and friends. Some people also got cyber-bullied on the internet. The internet might have bring us useful information and also make the world a smaller place. I think that the internet bring us more harm than goods into our lives. The internet decreased our social life time. People are busy using their phone and all the free time you had are wasted on the internet when it can actually be a time that you can use it to exercise or hang out with your friends or also do something meaningful in you life. Therefore, internet can not only distance you and your friends in real life and also waste you time.
First of all , people use the internet to go to social networking sites to communicate with their friends and family. |

but cyber-bullying is happening all over the internet almost all the time. People that got cyber-bullied always got hurt and feel depressed and they would think of committing suicide or self-harm. Because of the judgmental society this days, those people don"t care about how others felt and they just post bad comments about them. Therefore, many people suffered from cyber-bullying because of the people on the internet this days.
The internet is used for many things, people use it for their studies, projects and researches on the internet.Even now in schools teachers gives us homework on the internet and even have days which we stay at home to do our homework on the internet,it also saves us alot of time and we can buy things from online. |

there are a number of harmful websites and also contents that are not suppose to be view by young kids or teenager. There are a number of pop out advertisements that usually leads to pornography websites that innocent young kids will be curious about the pop out websites and go click on it. They would be badly distracted by the websites as its bad for young kids to see those unsuitable contents. Therefore, not all the websites on the internet are safe for all ages.
I disagree with this statement. Although kids and teenager likes to play games on the internet, it can be controlled by time their own discipline and time management.Internet can also help us to study in terms of crisis or a major disease outbreak such as the recent case of MH17 .Although there are inappropriate sites, i believe that there are more helpful sites like wikipedia where you can search for information, there are also pop up blockers available for download in the internet. In conclusion,Society can no longer leave without internet and it does NOT bring more harm than good. byebye. |

Reasons for voting decision: Pro had extremely weak premises that didn't use citations or very philosophical arguments. Despite how weak they were, pro still wins. Con put no effort or thought into his arguments.

Reasons for voting decision: The basic contentions in the debate were as such: PRO believed the Internet was harmful because it decreased social interaction, encouraged cyber bullying, and had mature content. CON argued the Internet was a means of social interaction (thereby negating PRO's first contention), and that the Internet was useful for research and study. CON dropped PRO's contention about cyber-bullying; however, PRO also dropped CON's contention about studying; thus, these two cancel out. PRO failed to prove why sites with mature content - specifically pornography - would be harmful to teenagers. This was a contention without evidence to support it. Thus CON's contentions hold more weight and prevent PRO from achieving his burden of proof. I therefore give arguments to CON.
In the future, with any debate topic, make sure to support your arguments with examples and evidence, and respond to your opponent's points as needed. But this was good for your first debate!
