We as a nation have invested the most money on our education, yet we are lagging behind the international community. We claim that it is a money issue but I think that it is an issue with the way our system is set up. We have too may one and done systems in place that they are crowding out good, traditional forms of education. Too many good programs cancel eachother out and cause chaos. This is not a round meant for evidence but rather for philophy. I believe education is important and will always believe that it is important. The first step to solving a problem is admitting it exists. So for the sake of the children, vote pro to ensure a better future.

I do not think the problem is with our educational system so much as it is with the people in the educational system. Although I think the schools could do a few things better, for the most part, all the tools needed to succeed are available in schools across the country.

In general, I would think our school systems are not much different then other school systems around the world. If this is the case, then I would think it boils down to the differences in students and not so much the system itself.

I'm open to this argument because I really do not have a lot of knowledge on the subject. So if you can provide me with some evidence for your claim you might be able to swing me over to your side. Maybe my assumptions are wrong but that will be for you to point out.

I completely agree. I am the father of a 6 year old and I live in a township with an excellent school system that I attended 15 years ago. But due to the neighborhood changes over that course of time the school system has suffered. Within the past 6 months the high school has had a rape two underage children were caught having sex in school, the graduation rate has dropped, just multiple problems at all the local schools. But yet the still have the highest paid proffessors in the state. As a result, I pay 450 a month to put my child in a private school approx. 45 min from my house. As a kindergardner he writes in cursive and does math and reading on a third graders level. All the kids in his school are WELL behaved, in uniform and I've never heard about his school on the news. Same type of teachers, different students.

I have to agree 100% with the con bluejoewho. It's definately the students, not the schools faculty or staff. I also agree with aceofelves on the teaching of evolution being a fact, and while I may not find the time to homeschool my children, I will most definately be looking deep into private schools.

The United States' public school system makes me cringe, and I plan to either home school my kids or send them to a private school (after i throughly look into the school).

That evolution is taught exclusively as a fact is enough to make me want to keep my distance from a public school.
