They killed Troy Davis Wednesday night for something he didn"t do. The death penalty should be abolished because innocent people will be put to death and it costs to much to put someone to death.

The most important reason to get rid of the death penalty is because innocent people will get put to death. " In September, Troy Davis was executed in Georgia even though there was doubt about his guilt."( News Debate Should the US Abolish the Death Penalty) " The former head the FBI- had asked officials to spare Davis"s life and many other people."(News Debate Should the US Abolish the Death Penalty) According to the article Should the US Abolish the Death Penalty says that the death penalty harms everyone involved. The people that they said they saw him murder the police officer were nine eyewitnesses and seven of them who late recanted. They need to abolish the death penalty because the people that say you did it can be lying, when you actually did do that crime they just said that you did. There"s still about 55 countries that still does the death penalty. There's about 147 countries that abolished the death penalty.

The other reason to abolish the death penalty is it cost to much to kill people on the death rode. To put someone to death will cost over a million. That million is just to put them to death that doesn't even add up to feed then and everything else that they buy or give to them and that is just one person that's not everyone else that's in that place ,so it's gonna cost a lot of money to do all of those people. So that is gonna be a lot of money."Cases without the death penalty cost $740,000, while cases where the death penalty is sought cost $1.26 million. Maintaining each death row prisoner costs taxpayers $90,000 more per year than a prisoner in general population. There are 714 inmates on California's death row."(The Internet)" (MLA parenthetical citation) The meaning of the principle Eye for an Eye is that a person who has been injured by another person returns the offending action to the originator in compensation, or that an authority does so on behalf of the injured person."(Matthew (5:38-42) Even when they give people the death penalty the crime rate is still going up it's not going down. So there just killing people that murdered other people there not solving the problem there kind of making it worse.

However some people might argue that the death penalty shouldn"t be abolished. Some people might say that the death penalty shouldn"t be abolished is because they killed another person for no reason so the person that killed them should get the same punishment because that did the same thing to an innocent person. So by killing the person that did the crime there paying for what they did by getting the death penalty. Also some people might say that the crime rate will go up if you abolish the death penalty. They will do that because the criminal will think no matter what they do they will be released in the end. Those criminals must have committed a serious crime so they were punished with the death penalty, so other people will think this punishment can"t be too cruel to them, because they have done much crueler things to the victims.

The Death Penalty need to be abolished because innocent people will be put to death and the Death Penalty cost to much money. So the Death Penalty needs to be abolished.
