Ending texts with periods is proper, Whilst texting without them is improper.
Grammatically speaking, Yes, Periods are proper. However, The function of texts is to communicate simple information quickly, Meaning that as long as the message gets across, A text is still okay without a period. Most of the time, An individual text is one sentence anyways. I would further like to argue that the absence of periods in regular texting makes it much more effective when it is used. I have seen periods used to communicate seriousness or anger. There is something about how a person cared enough about a message to properly punctuate which sets the mood of a text in a certain way. TLDR: my stance on this prompt is that texts are proper without texts, But can certainly be used in texts, And to great effect. |
