Weed should be legalized in other countries such as Jamaica, Swaziland, Columbia and a few others. The reason is because these countries are very poor and there main source of money to the country is Tourism. If they were able to sell and regulate their products they would have a lot of money coming in to the country. Most of these growers have exotic strands of weed that are in high demand. These growers could make about 1-2 million dollars annually. In Columbia it is how people make their living. They make their living off of selling weed, just because it's illegal doesnt mean people will not use it. Why not make it legal so these people can get out of poverty? It can benefit the country as a whole.

I personally think weed should not be legal ANYWHERE! wthout a medical note from the doctor. I agree that some countries make their living off selling weed but that doesnt mean we will put lives in danger, Smoking a single marijuana joint is equivalent to smoking 2.5 to 5 cigarettes in terms of damage to the lungs, largely due to differences in how pot and cigarette users smoke. THEREFORE,TOO much weed can be harmful...!
Their are other ways of helping out the country, like collecting donations , start or join an organization e.t.c.
Debate Round No. 1

Welcome and thank you for accepting this challenge. Let's get to it.

My opponent says that too much weed can be harmful. When has weed ever in the history of humans, ever killed someone? Weed is a plant. It comes from the ground, and it grows wildly. Shouldn't we be allowed to grow what we want? Its an herb.

My opponent continues to say that " heir are other ways of helping out the country, like collecting donations , start or join an organization e.t.c.".
You realize that these things already exist in the countries I listed. They exist but they do not help much as you might think looking from the outside.

If weed was legalized in these countries their economy would sky rocket and people would get out of poverty. There is also a high demand for weed in certain countries that are willing to pay big money for their strand of the plant. You can also say that some countries might give sanctions. However, weed is a plant and it is growing wildly. If weed was regulated properly it would change so much in these third world countries.

Weed is not just a drug. Weed has some culture behind it, it is a lifestyle, it is even in the Rasta religion of the Jamaicans. Tobacco should be illegal or should we just go back to prohibition in the 20s? Why make something illegal that grows from the Earth? Tobacco is processed. You cannot grow it from your backyard. Alcohol is also processed. Alcohol gives liver problems. Tobacco destroys your lungs. Weed is not addictive like Tobacco. Weed is was made illegal by a health scare by paper manufacturers as "hemp". Weed also makes you happy, chill, relax and keeps the stress of everyday life down. There has been studies on weed whether is caused cancer or not. The carcinogens did not cause cancer in the lungs or in the body. It does damage your lungs but not as bad and not to an extent to cause a major problem. If you smoke in moderation you will be alright.

There are also studies done whether it causes brain damage. The studies found that weed does not cause a higher risk in brain damage. Weed may cause damage on developing brains or it may not we do not know for sure.
