Who had it better? Us or the cavemen?

I do not believe that technology has changed the world for the better. I mean look back at the times when the cavemen were still around. They worked maybe 20 hours a week to provide food and the "work" was hunting. People these days now take time off work just to go hunting. They had a lot less to worry about too. Such as identity theft, credit card scam, pretty much anything financial.

There are a lot of definitions of the term better, but I'll use what you used it as, a life with less work and stress.

That's 20 hours a week to provide food alone. Not to mention, shelter, clothing, and duties to children or other members of a family or tribe. And that's not to mention other threats from animals and nature. Cavemen worked 24/7 just to stay alive; they had to be completely self sufficient. Today I can buy food, shelter, tools, and clothing all ready-made but cavemen had to make everything for themselves. Today if I need protection I can call the police. Within a very small group of people, cavemen had to be their own artisans, scientists, laborers, cooks, army, and government. Because today we have so many more people in an organized system with technology, I have the luxury to specialize in only one area and still have no trouble providing for myself.

Hunting as work and hunting as sport are very different. Cavemen depended on the hunt for food. Since they didn't have advanced technology, killing the animal was harder, and there were grave consequences if the hunt didn't go well. Hunters today (the ones who hunt for sport) enjoy it because it is easier and they are not dependent on it for anything except enjoyment.

Just because fears are different doesn't mean that there aren't any. True, cavemen didn't have to worry about money. What they did have to worry about is whether a giant wolf was going to eat them, or if they'd have enough food to survive.

As I explained before, cavemen had to constantly worry and work for survival. Today the majority of us have survival practically handed to us on a plate, and even though we have other worries we also have a lot of luxury time to spend how we want.
