Freedom of speech is totally hyped up to be something its not, Its not about the freedom of speech its about the limit to that freedom, Or the freedom to speak. . You have the right to speak with freedom of choice so why ever talk about freedom of speech? Its obvious bs if you ask me, Like, The thing that makes people go yaay when they hear the words, Freedom of speech, Should really be for the limit of speech instead. . . That should be when we go yaay, You should not be free to just speak anything, Speech should be limited. . Like lies, Or threats are spoken, Can't just go around threatening people however you like, Or lie however you like

Tell me why you think freedom of speech should be limited. Why should we censor people's opinions and what is the criteria for censoring?

Yes but you did not answer my question so I ask it again: Tell me why you think freedom of speech should be limited. Why should we censor people's opinions and what is the criteria for censoring?

You seem to have no grasp on what freedom of speech actually means. I tried to explain it to you but you refuse to listen. Please stop making debates on topics that you know nothing about.

Noise. The concept of "rights" distinguished the political thoughts of the 17th and 18th century Western political philosophers. The American and French revolutions introduced the radical idea. . . The people of the land did not exist as serf bound to their feudal lords but rather citizens! Citizens enjoy political and civil rights. Serf by contrast existed as share croppers who had rights which their lords saw fit to give them at any given particular moment in time.

It was a right guaranteed to people so that they would know that their new government would not rule tyrannically nor would it stifle their criticisms, This what not a luxury they had as colonial citizens ruled by the British monarchy.

"So it would be stupid to censor words because people would just make up new sounds in secret to convey the same meaning. "

A funny example is online video games that ban swears. If you play any, You will often times see people saying strange words or acronyms that mean the same thing.

Words are only passing of information. It is a certain sound that at core holds no meaning. So it would be stupid to censor words because people would just make up new sounds in secret to convey the same meaning.

Words themselves do not incite any form of meaning. It is both the artist, If you will, And the interpreter who create the meaning. It is relativity that you and I can see the same thing but also have different views on it, So you see it's the fault of both that ascertain violence.

We should not censor words, But instead educate people to understand the power of words and also themselves. When people can see that they ultimately hold the power over whether an intention will hold dominion over them, They will see thus that it is their own fault if they seek violence as a result of the words.

Freedom of speech is the idea that you can say whatever you want with no repercussions from the government. In saying so, I'm glad and will always hold the viewpoint that the government should not be involved in the way we conduct ourselves as individuals.
