I will be debating tree of death if Donald Trump is "racist".

I gladly accept your challenge. Best of luck to you.
Debate Round No. 1

I think I should start by giving a solid definition of racism(this is always done in arguments involving race) because both you and me probably agree the word racism does not mean as much as it used to as people in this time like to claim racism on things that really aren't.

the Oxford dictionary says Racism is "The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races:".

as mentioned before, people like to seak out racism, in a way "creating a dragon to slay" when there really is no racism. This is further shown by how when protestors are sometimes asked why he is racist they never respond.

This video here points this out: takes him to ask multiple times before one of them gives out a reason on why they think Trump is racist

Could this be because there is possibly no reason? possibly but I don't know. I want to keep an open mind during this debate, and if Trump really is racist and you bring up some facts I could switch my point of view.

Thank you for this debate.

In 1973, Trump's real estate company was sued by the federal government for violation of the Fair Housing Act. The NY City Human Rights Division sent out testers to verify these claims. A black man, one of the testers, was sent to inquire on vacant apartments, having seen a "Apartment for Rent" sign on the building. He was told that the apartment had been filled and that the sign had simply been not taken down yet. Sheila Morse, a white tester, later entered the building inquiring about that same apartment. She says of her experience: "They greeted me with open arms and showed me every aspect of the apartment." When confronted by a city official, the superintendent defended himself, saying that his boss had told him not to rent to black tenants. His boss was Trump Management, led by a young Donald Trump. (

A black man named Kip Brown spoke in The New Yorker of his experience in Trump casinos, saying, "When Donald and Ivana came to the casino, the bosses would order all the black people off the floor." (

Trump is quoted by an employee, John O'Donnell, as saying: "Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. " I think that the guy is lazy. And it"s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It"s not anything they can control." (

Later Trump confirmed in a Playboy interview that the content in O'Donnell's book was "probably true." (

I believe I have satisfied my BoP. Over to Con as to why these actions and words do not constitute racism under his definition.
