Hello elphabal1289 how are you,
Let me start out saying i don't agree with gun rights 100%. I say that if you want to have a gun you should have to go through training, classes, and all that stuff. Look at it this way, what happens if we give guns to everybody who is age old enough one. Lets say they all abuse it. Now i do agree that a person has the right to defend themselves, but look at what happens to those who use it wrongly If you except this debate i highly thank you and look forward to it. Now let me say this. If you do agree with gun rights then why. 2) what is your opinnion on gun rights. But i also have to support the constitution, but i don't agree with all of it such as gun rights.
ok, first let me say that I agree with you that you should have to go through training, classes, etc. I agree that guns should not be given to anyone who wants one, though people should have the right to defend themselves and their families. This one is going to be a hard debate for me because I agree with you on most points, but I took this debate as a challenge to try and defend the opposing side. Again, thank you for the challenge and I look forward to an interesting debate. =) |

yes, you are right and thank you. Ok yes, people do have the right to defend themselves. because lots of times it comes down to tht point a citizen protecting himself. I will say this I am a boyscout NRA certified. but does that necessarily give me the right to walk around town with a gun in my pants. I hear they are even thinking about letting guns in school. Look at what happened at Virginia teck. I felt so bad for the kids. he was old enough to have a gun, but what even makes me more sick is his plan on getting the gun. the constitution is right is giving us the right to defend ourselves, but so sad to what happens if we abuse it.
now can you please do me a favor and define what gun rights should mean in a reasonable sense.
by the constitution, gun rights is defined as the right to bear arms. Now, when this amendment was ratified, it meant in terms of defense. You as a citizen of the United States have the right to own a gun as a source of protection. It did not imply that you have the right to shoot someone because they pissed you off, or because they wouldn't give you all their money. And the thing is, you can't make gun rights illegal because you have the right to protect yourself; however, if you don't do something about it then crime rates comtinue to rise. You also have to factor in illegal selling of guns on the streets. In stores, you have to get a license. But not on the streets. Something needs to be done. |

ok, so now let's say that i have my license and i have my (i don't want to even say weapon) lets use "firearm" i'm all ready to go. Now like you said i have the right to defend myself, but what if i was a mindless shooter. Say i just didn't care i shot not people but like squirrels rabbits etc and a person walks in my path bam he's dead. Now would you say everyone has the rights to bear arms "oh, oh but I mistakenly shot him, he ,he umm got in my way when i was trying to shoot the squirrel" now he went through all the training has the license but is just a mindless shooter would he have the right to bear arms if he has a reputation for being mindless.
no, he would not have the right to bear arms. but that same man could go through all the training and get a gun, but keep it tucked away next to his bed just in case something goes wrong and he needs to defend himself. Anything can be used for the good or the bad, and the only way to seriously dissolve the threat of mindless shooters would be to make guns illegal, but this cannot be done because if I live in a bad part of town and having a gun around for defense makes me feel safer, I should be able to get a gun. At the same time, you cannot deny someone a gun or the training to get a gun because "you look like a mindless shooter." My point is that you never know what someone's true intention behind the purchase of a gun really is. |

nater forfeited this round.
Considering my opponent forfeited the round, I cannot post an arguement. I have nothing to argue against. =( |

what is it with people forfeiting? I just had to deliver my closing argument to another debate that was forfeited. Well, this really wasn't a "debate", so I really don't have a closing argument. The solution to the gun problem isn't an easy one. 1. Everyone has the right to protect themselves. 2. Because of this, everyone has the right to buy a gun. 3. When you purchase a gun, the seller doesn't know of your intentions. 4. And just like anything, guns can be used for good or bad. 5. I do believe that you should have to go through training and testing, and pay to go through it to get your license. 6. The solution is honestly unknown. Is gun rights fair? Yes and No. Maybe someone can think of a solution... |
