I think kids can have phones when they are 7 years old

7 years old? Way too young. What does a 7 year old need with a phone? At 7, they should be going outside and playing tag or sports, not playing with their phone.

Second, at seven, a child's brain is growing rapidly. Not only can a phone screen slow that growth down, but it can also harm them. [1]

Finally, who pays for it? A seven year old is not responsible enough to buy their own phone, and would break it anyway.

I believe that 11-12 years old is an appropriate age for a phone. They would have a use for it (school or friends), and be responsible enough.
