The mayor term should be extend up to 6 years for the people like the mayor to extend and if the mayor is very honest to her/his city,why not they extend.

Con

The difference between 6 and 4 years is slight. Why, I ask my opponent, give the mayor an extra 2 years? Just because he is good to his people?

If a mayor is doing good, then a re election should be no issue.

A four year term is long enough for the mayor. It keeps him from getting too comfortable and keeps his power balanced with the terms and powers of other politicians in the city.

My opponent has not added anything to her argument.

She only states that 2 extra years are not slight and doesn't prove to me that they are not (so my statement stands.)

Again, I must point out to my opponent: If the people like the mayor, they can re elect him. Adding another 2 years (the population might have to endure a bad candidate for 2 extra years at some point...) doesn't seem necessary.

well, here in Belgium, it is 8 years. :)
it does allow for a vision to have better chances to be brought fully into practice. long term thinking etc.

of course, it also means you can only punish bad government once every 8 years. but the impact on local level can be more easily evaded than governing on national level.
