some prisoners are not physically or mentally fit to work, So by them not working or they not to be fed?

Prisoners have all been in prison for bad reasons, So working for their food is like a lesson for them, And slowly, They will start to understand that they should never commit a crime again. If prisoners just got food without working for it, What are they learning? What skills of understanding have they gained? None. If prisoners just got their food, It would sort of be just like a club or a care home. No. Prisoners need to reflect and understand why they are in prison and what consequences they need to face for committing a crime, As harsh as it sounds.

Penal labor in the United States, Including a form of slavery or involuntary servitude, Is explicitly allowed by the 13th Amendment of the U. S. Constitution. This form of legal slavery is only allowed when used as punishment for committing a crime.

Is this debate whether those specific mentally ill, And physically unfit should be made to work?
Or is it whether prisoners in general should be forced to work?

If it's a debate about the second, I'll accept the debate.
