Has anyone ever used choicescript before? I'm thinking about designing a choose-your-own-adventure game using it but I've never used it before. Couple that with I'm relatively new to code and stuff like that and I'm over my head even with a fairly simple walk-through of the stuff. If anyone can help me through it and help me figure it out I'd be really appreciative.

Hmm, I don't know how o use it, but this looks like something I'd spend days on. Thanks for sharing.

I've programmed extensively in C++, Choicescript looks like a really easy to use script just for Choose your own Adventures.

What kind of help would you need?

I'm looking more into it and its testing features seem very well designed and it does have some more advanced code and statements in general.

I think the only help you would need is manpower or help with the story or other aspects of the game, I don't think Choicescript is meant to be a struggle.

I'd love to help with any of that.

XD well I think I just got everyone hooked onto it lol.

@Niwsa:

I have the story part knocked down but it's the actual coding part that is giving me trouble. I was trying to test it out with a sample that the choice script people provided but it wasn't working and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I get the basics of making the choices and all that but how do I code the thing to actually start?

Yeah post it. It looks like the syntax is really important from what I've read on the sit.

Does that mean it's working now?

The error dialogue was a little obscure I noticed since I started out in Chrome too.

It looks like it's a fault with Chrome too which is unexpected.

Not yet. Opening it in IE made the spacing crap and I have to try to fix it before I can properly run the test on it. Still working on that.

Just do it in Python. It's really simple and you get some programming experience.

It looks like what you posted is the sample given with the program. Yeah, it apparently doesn't work in Chrome, but fine in IE, but the spacing/indentation is crucial for the program to work properly.

Programming language, the syntax is really clear and easy to understand (IMO) compared to C++.

Would someone with no programming experience be able to use it?

I'd say yes, it's easy to learn, and you can easily understand what a python code means just by reading it.

While we're on the subject of C++, I picked up C++ for Dummies a few days ago. I am a few chapters in, and have made 2 programs. The first is a Celsius to Fahrenheit converter, which the book told me the source code to in the first chapter, then the book explained it. The second is an inches to centimeters converter, which I made using the knowledge of doing the Celsius to Fahrenheit converter and other concepts explained a little later on.

Is there really a major difference between any of the programming languages? Can't they all do pretty much the same thing (with the exception of specialized languages like HTML)?
