'American-born Knesset Member candidate Jeremy Gimpel told Arutz Sheva he cannot understand how American Jews can support President Barack Obama, who did not even let [Jonathan] Pollard leave [jail] for his father"s funeral."

"He is an evil man, but Jews support this man," said Gimpel, a strong contender for a seat in the Knesset for the HaBayit HaYehudi (Jewish Home) party.

He predicted before the election that Obama would win and that approximately 70 percent of American Jews would vote for second term for the president.

"There is a clear message here for the People of Israel in the Land of Israel," Gimpel told Arutz Sheva. "Jews there are totally detached from the Land of Israel. If they were connected to it, they would not vote for Obama"

"With all the sorrow involved, those who help get him elected are the American Jews."

Gimpel also said that the government of Israel is disconnected with American Jewry. "There is a quiet Holocaust there. Half of American Jews are detached and intermarry, [but] there is not even one Anglo-Saxon representative in the Knesset" to whom this sector can turn.

The Knesset includes Russians, one of whom is Minister of Absorption, and there is an Ethiopian, he notes.

Gimpel hopes to change this, and next week"s Jewish Home primaries will determine if he win a place on the candidate list that will allow him a reasonable chance of being elected to the next Knesset in January.'

Yes, because Jews in the United States should vote for Israel's interests and not America's interests. The President ought to swear an oath to the Israeli people when he is elected.
